Freedom MTD or OTD

Recommended Posts

Just got off the Freedom 05/06/12 to 05/13/12, I have done MTD on 5 other cruises, has always worked out great for us, well that ended last week.

It's not My Time Dinning any longer it's Our Time Dinning

You have a choice of 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:30 or 8:00 Show up earlier or later you just have to wait till the next time comes up. Never again on the Freedom.

I do want to try it on another ship soon to see if it's just the Freedom or if you have been on a ship where it is like it use to BE:)

So, if you get there at 7:45, you have to wait 15 minutes. Correct?

Sorry, I do not understand the problem. Is it that big of a deal to land on the half hour? It is still MTD. Most of the time there is a wait anyway. Maybe this will help the staff and there wont be any more waiting time.

Over spring break we had mtd on freedom and it worked great.. We requested the same waiter every night and had the same table most nights as well, by a window. We never had to wait even 5 minutes.

Same here on Freedom just a couple weeks ago. had the same waiters and same table all week. We showed up anywhere from 5:45 one night to 8pm one night and never had a wait of over 5 minutes

Excellent experience

Yes, I understand what you are all saying...but I pretty much have always waited 5 or 10...sometimes 15 minutes..

So, forward or backward 15 minutes, is it that difficult to be there?....I am sorry, I don't understand why this is really such a big deal.

There must be a reason for it. As I said ..maybe it is for better timing and better service for us, the customer. :o

15 minutes forward or backward can mean missing a show. Might not be a big deal to you but some of us like the shows.

Bingo....that is what happened to us. We wanted to eat at 7:00pm, but the hostess would not let us. She made us come at 7:15 or 7:30. Even coming at 7:15, we had to wait for about 10 mins. We could not make the 9pm shows which we had made reservations for. The system did not work on the week of 5-6 thru 5-13 (Freedom).

We had a hostess try that with us on the Jewel. We had a standing 7pm reservation and she asked if we could move it earlier or later. I said sure, what time and was told either 5:30 or 7:30:eek: I said no thanks and kept our 7. If they don't want you to book 7, they shouldn't make that time available to book.

She told us at first to be there at 5:45 every night  I explained to her the reason I switched to MTD was because they had changed traditional dining from 6 pm to 5:30. She then said if we came any other time there would be a wait of up to 30 minutes

Like i said above, I showed up when I was ready eat anywhere from 6 pm to 8pm and never had to wait over 5 minutes. I showed up a couple nights right at 7pm and it wasnt a problem. We had the same table and same waiters all week long.

Hmm that's odd we were on the same sailing and only ever waited one evening for approx 5 minutes and that was the formal night because there wasn't a table available right away. We had 6:15 as our selected time, but maybe I booked my MTD before you got your available times. As far as I'm aware they book every 15 min, but you can show up when you want. If you show up at a different time than you originally booked then they seat you when there's a table available. No big deal in my opinion.

I was looking forward to MTD because the majority of passengers who posted seemed to have no problems at all with just walking in.

I personally think if it is just a table for 2 and you do not want the same server every night, chances are good you'll be seated within 5 minutes (no problem). Our deal was that we wanted the same server every night and there were 6 in our party. It made it difficult to get 7pm even though that is what we asked for and reserved online.

Don't let this scare you off from MTD. I still think it works great when just 2 people.

So let me ask this question, It's "my time dining" but you pick a time to go? Do you pick your time each morning or at the begining of the week? How do they work "making the reservation" for that? Please help me understand......thanks

Could be :) It was just me and my mother. But we did get the same table or the table for two right beside it and also same waiters every night though.

I loved MTD! I cant see myself going back to traditional dining now.

Tugboat, Thanks for the information about the ship. We'll be there in few months. A question, Did you ever meet a bartender named Ariel from VietNam? He is a very good friend of my husband and we will like to see him again. Any information, please let us know. If anyone reading knows what ship is he, please let me know. Thanks

We made reservations online for 7pm. When we got to MTD the 1st time, the Hostess said there is no 7pm time slot available. We could dine at 6:30 or 7:30. There were 6 in our group. That may have made a difference. I really think the problem was with the "Hostess". She would not budge. It was 6:30 or 7:30 and that was the way it was. I don't think this was "MTD" and I told her so and her comment is "sorry".

It will not stop us from trying MTD again. I like MTD, but I want it to be on "my time" not the Hostess' time!!!
