the28thfish Posted June 2, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2012 Hello all!!! I am going on my very first cruise tomorrow on Norwegian Cruise Line, and the boat will be heading to Florida and Bahamas. I am still very knew to all of this and have tried to gather as much information as I can prior to sailing. The one question that still remains is what the dress code will be like, realistically, on Norwegian. I know Norwegian briefly states casual cruise attire, but what does that really entail? Specifically, what should I expect to pack for the night life on board (Clubs, restaurants, casinos)? Would typical ladies club attire be considered appropriate? Skirts, tops, and heels? I would assume walking into the casino still wearing your bathing suit and a wrap would be considered unacceptable. If anyone can give me some insight it would be MOST appreciated!!!:D:D:D
cb at sea Posted June 2, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2012 NCL is one of the most casual cruiselines....yes...wearing your bathing suit in public non-pool areas is frowned upon, but shorts/tees/flip-flops are standard daytime wear. At night, what you mentioned is MORE than adequate....some will do less than that! No worries...whatever you'd wear at a resort hotel will be fine on the ship. Starry Eyes Posted June 2, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2012 You are free to wear casual clothes on NCL. Ideally, pool attire should be limited to the pool deck. Depending upon the ship, one of the main dining room and the French restaurant may restrict jeans and/or shorts at dinner time. there is dress up or not night, so a fair number of people dress up that evening (many other do not). Of course you can dress up other nights if you wish. Some ladies dress up to go to the restaurants and clubs...they look great...do so if it makes you happy. OTOH, dress casually if that make you happy. sometimes I see dressed up young women arm in arm the guys in jeans.

Nebr.cruiser Posted June 2, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 2, 2012 Casual wear like you are referring to is fine. However, we've only cruised once on NCL and I was expecting it to be more casual in the evening than it was. Quite a few people did dress up to the nines, including the most formal couple I have ever seen on any cruise line, at night. And, this is the only cruise line where I have actually seen someone turned away from the main dining room who was wearing (nice) jeans. On the Jewel, one of the MDRs had a no-jeans policy at night. I also saw people in shorts and tees in the other dining room as well at night, but really, they were the exception.
