cgrn Posted June 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2012 Okay - I'm curious about this "Spa" treatment. Has anyone done this and could tell me what is done and how long does the treatment last? As always thank you for in advance! Cathy
Astro Flyer Posted June 3, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2012 I don't know the cost onboard but when I asked my dentist about teeth whitening he said it was not necessary to pay him hundreds of dollars when I could do the same thing with Crest Whitestrips. :D

As always thank you for in advance!Cathy To be honest, I wouldn't do it on the ship. Go to your regular dentist. Then, if you have any problems or concerns, they can help you. The gel or chemicals can affect your gums, irritating them. Also, best results are right after your teeth have been professionally cleaned. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tooth_bleaching#section_2
caribill Posted June 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2012 Run, do not walk, away from, this. The procedure is not performed by trained dental professionals.
OldJerseycruiser Posted June 3, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2012 My daughter is a dentist and says that the people on the ship are not qualified enough to do this safely and also you will not get a particularly white finish with what they are able to use. Off2China Posted June 3, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2012 Search this forum for teeth whitening and you'll find quite a bit of info. Here's one not-so-good experience: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1534373&highlight=teeth+whitening I definitely wouldn't risk it

Rare Smokeyham Posted June 3, 2012 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2012 I did this, and would not repeat it on board! My gums were very irritated, and the results were disappointing. If I wanted it done, I should have gone to a dental professsional!
Rare Kinkacruiser Posted June 3, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2012 Okay - I'm curious about this "Spa" treatment. Has anyone done this and could tell me what is done and how long does the treatment last? As always thank you for in advance!Cathy On our last cruise a friend paid $300 to have this done in the Lotus Spa. Not only did it make her teeth worse, they wanted another $200 to fix the problem. Use your own dentist, get him to make up a professional (rubbery) mould, supply the gel and do use it at home over a week or 2. I've not used Crest stips so cannot comment.
