Ramblas or airport??

We have a flight the day day after our cruise very very early-605am departure-it is the best price:(

I am trying to figure out if it is best to spend the night at an airport hotel or take a cab extremely early(buses dont run that early for the airport) from Las Ramblas.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We havent been to Barcelona before.

We've stayed at a Marriott at the airport.

They will take your luggage, give you a comfortable room, and provide a shuttle (sometimes free other times a few Euros) to and from the Ramblas.

Then, in the morning, they'll take you to the airport in the free shuttle.

Its 30 or so euros from Las Ramblas to airport and ~ 30'

Comes down to how much sleep you want and how badly you want to see Barcelona?

I found the two Gaudi sites and Las Ramblas magical to explore, takes about 1/2 day. Off the ship, explore the town till 9pm and to airport is one option. The other is explore till real late and stress the extra distance to the airport and early rise, I personally would opt for the first and spend an extra 30 euros for the extra cab ride.

  • 1 month later...

You can store your luggage for the day you disembark near Placa Catalunya (google luggage storage Barcelona and the place will come up) and then you can catch the Aerobus to the airport and stay at an airport hotel. You might need to take a cab to the luggage storage place cause it is a hike up there from the port.

The expense then would be getting from the port to Marriott?

We havent been to Barcelona before.

For a 605 flight, you will need to be at the airport about 4am. That means leaving a downtown hotel by 3:30am and probably waking up by 2:30am.

If you stay downtown, make sure you arrange for a car or taxi in advance.

Staying at the airport would allow you to sleep later, but you would miss out on the evening downtown.

One option would be to go with a tour of Barcelona with Barcelona Day Tours after you leave the ship. They will keep your luggage in the van and you go on the tour of the city, then to your hotel.

AS YOU SAID ...you haven't been to barcelon before, so spend the day around the ramblas, actually best thing is buy a HOP ON/OFF BUS TICKET

you will see all of barcelona in a day, then retire to your hotel eat, sleep and take a taxi ride to the airport, as yes no buses that early,,,

just BEWARD,,,LAS RAMBLAS, lots of pick pockets, plus people trying to scamm,,,just watch, look, don't participate,,,and you'll be OK...

hold purse and cameras in front of your chest, if your traveling with a man make sure his wallet is in front pocket...HAVE FUN,,been there it's very nice, and best way to visit is fron HOP ON/OFF BUS...its cheap, you get of and on whenever you want and visit all the MAIN ATTRACTIONS of the city...

let me know how it goes
