dr28326 Posted June 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2012 Looking at Airtran for November. Sunday one way fare from New Orleans to Raleigh Durham is now at $182.00. Should I get it now or wait for any sales?
Zach1213 Posted June 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2012 How do you know it will go on sale at some point? Additionally, even if it does go on sale down the road, the price could have gone up enough that even the sale price is more than $182. You can wait if you wish but don't assume you'll get it cheaper.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted June 7, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2012 Further, even if there is a "sale" by AirTran, will it be applicable for: 1) Your cities 2) Your dates 3) Your flights How's your risk tolerance??
Bowie MeMe Posted June 7, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2012 Take a look at what is available To Raleigh -- how many flights per day and where the heck do you stop on the way? RDU isn't that big an airport. Sunday is a fairly big day for RDU in that SAS software runs courses that are early MON to FRI. Used to fly this route alot. Many huge Universities in area too and games, concerts, tournaments and college schedules can fill hotels and planes. Just saying consider how important it is for having flight that day and buy earlier if it is important or take a chance waiting for sale if it isn't the big deal. SFCAcruiser Posted June 7, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 7, 2012 Looking at Airtran for November. Sunday one way fare from New Orleans to Raleigh Durham is now at $182.00. Should I get it now or wait for any sales? Have you thought about what constitutes "a sale"? How much cheaper than $182 would the fare have to be for you to consider it to be a good deal? Out of curiousity, I checked three random dates in November - weekends, and midweek, and the best Airtran fare was $167. The larger airlines were charging more. If on your date of travel the best fare is $182, it suggests that Airtran expects your day to be a little busier and a price reduction may not happen. waterbug123 Posted June 7, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 7, 2012 Looking at Airtran for November. Sunday one way fare from New Orleans to Raleigh Durham is now at $182.00. Should I get it now or wait for any sales? Are you willing to pay MORE than $182? Because the flip side of waiting for a sale is that the price might go UP instead of down.
