39august Posted June 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Is it easy to get a table for two in the dining room for dinner main seating? How about Anytime Dining? We've had some very bad situations in the past and much prefer to dine alone. How is dinner in the HC? We have only gone to the buffet for dinner on RCI the last few cruises. On RCI there are a lot of choices for dinner, some of them from the MDR menu each night. What are the hours for HC, please? And when does the dinner selection change over to snack type food at night? Is the IC open 24 hours?
Shogun Posted June 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Hi There IC is 24 hours Horizon at night often has a theme section eg Mexican etc Tables for two in Anytime might mean a longer wait. In main dining room for fixed dining they do fill up quickly so depends when you book yours Shogun
paul929207 Posted June 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Getting a table for two (or any other size) depends on the number of people asking for that size. There are tables for two in both the dining room used for TD and those used for AD. Often these tables are just split off from a larger table that is now 6 or 8 inches away. shepp Posted June 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2012 Food's a matter of taste. I think that food in the HC is distinctly inferior to that in the MDR. Others don't. You, therefore, may or may not like it. And as Paul said, because of diningroom layout, sometimes a table for two will put you closer to a stranger than a table for six would. Depending on when you ask and what you request, you may or may not be able to get confirmed seating in traditional. If you are in traditional, AFAIK you may have to wait till you're onboard to ask the maitre d' to seat you at a two-top. But if you end up seated with incompatible companions at a larger table, you can ask for another table or to be switched to anytime. If you start with anytime, you're not supposed to be able to switch to traditional, which is odd because there always seem to be plenty of empty chairs at late trad. Jasperdo Posted June 11, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2012 What are the hours for HC, please? And when does the dinner selection change over to snack type food at night? These are the general hours that the Horizon Court Buffet is open. Some ships might tweek it a bit, but on most sailings it will be like this:Continental Breakfast: 5am-6am Buffet Breakfast: 6am-11:30am Luncheon Buffet: 11:30am-3:30pm Light Snacks: 3:30pm-5:30pm Dinner Buffet: 5:30pm-Midnight The full dinner buffet is offered until the buffet closes. It doesn't switch over to late night snacks. On ships that have the International Cafe, you can get snack food 24 hours a day.
jpthomas27 Posted June 11, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 11, 2012 There are many discussion on the board about Any Time Dinning, and you'll hear lots of varying opinions. We have never, in 22 nights of using it, had a problem getting a table for two in the Any Time dinnign room. We've waited several times for a table, but never longer than 15 minutes. They gave us a pager and we had a drink nearby while we waited, no big deal.
