Carnival Glory Canada/New England?

Hello everyone! Ever since I got back from my first cruise, I immediately began searching for a new one. I was stuck between Caribbean Princess for Canada/New England and Carnival's Glory, but just made a deposit on the Glory today. I guess what steered me more towards Carnival was the fact that they seem to keep things open much later than Princess. I know very little of both lines, but drew the conclusion that Carnival may be for a younger audience. Has anyone sailed on the Glory, and could tell me whether or not its a good ship with a nice itinerary for Canada? I can cancel at any moment, so any opinions are appreciated.

I really liked the Glory for our canada cruise last year, but we only made it to one port because of hurricane irene. We still had a great time, and fell in love with NYC! We were actually talking about trying that cruise again and hopefully hitting all the ports!

For the October 6th itinerary, the price is extremely reasonable. I was quoted for 529 a person for a week trip.

We haven't done the 7-day cruise - only the 4 and 5-day cruises - but we love Glory and the Canada itinerary. Glory has a lot to offer, and the sailaway from NYC is worth the price of the cruise itself. And Saint John and Halifax are great ports with really friendly people there to meet you. I have reviews from our last two Glory cruises posted at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1442719 and http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1270610&highlight=glory. Hope this helps!

If you care to read another 7 day Canada/NE review, we sailed the Glory last October:

I asked DD(15) earlier today what her favorite cruise to date was...her response was Carnival Glory to Canada:D.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO the28thfish: This is a good cruise and we will be on it too. This is the seventh time we are going to New England/Canada. You will love this trip. We are going to Boston. Fenway Park is having it's 100th birthday this year. Portland, Maine is a very nice city. St. John, NB is nice. It sits on the Bay of Fundy and has some of the highest tides in the world. Halifax of course is a nice city with lots of things to see and do.

Yes, there is..one of those dorm room fridges. They do not keep things very cold and other than drinks, I would not put anything perishable in them. :o

I think it was $459 p.p. that I got it for last year (7 days in Oct.)

so prices ARE up.

We loved the Glory to Canada in September so we're doing it again in 2 weeks :) :) (third cruise to Canada)

I'll admit, the Glory is not my favorite ship to date but it's definitely a great ship. I'm sailing on her again in October also.

The Canadian itinerary has a very different feeling from going south, but it's still really nice. If you're in to taking pictures, there are a lot of great photo opportunities.

If you have any specific questions, let me know-I might be able to help.

I'll be on the 9/22/12 Glory Canada/New England sailing. It is coming up fast. I am looking forward to the Canada/New England ports. This will be something different from the typical Caribbean ports I have been to. Does anyone know if Sept 22 will have fall colors on the trees yet?

It is good to know that Glory has the covered pool if needed. September probably will have some cold/foggy days. I enjoy Carnival's Conquest class of ship that Glory is part of. Once you get use to the layout it is easy to get around. The size of the ship is just right. Not too small, not too big. Glory won't have the 2.0 upgrades for my cruise but that is OK. I like the current offerings of the Mongolian Wok, Fish&Chips, sushi, the grill and the burrito bar. I heard Glory goes in for the 2.0 upgrade renovation in November.

Happy Sailing.

Interesting thread - we are looking at this cruise for July of 2013...am I right that the covered pool is only for adults? We'll have kids with us and with potentially cool weather it would be important I would think! Thanks :)

Yep, the aft covered pool is for 18+. But this area also has the ice cream machines (as well as a bar) so kids can go in the area, just not in the pool. Clear as mud right?
