Penthouse/suite question

Unknotted

Recommended Posts

I am so used to sailing on other cruise lines that I am confusing myself on a lot of things. I have only sailed NCL once several years ago and we have another one booked for next March.

But now I'm looking at booking a cruise on the Jewel next December and found a good price (in my opinion) for an aft penthouse. Do all "suite" perks come with a penthouse? I noticed the Jewel has Owners suites and penthouses....so I'm wanting to make sure that penthouses actually fall into the "suite" category as far as perks go. I don't want to go up in price to book an Owners Suite, but if a penthouse doesn't get suite perks I would definitely be willing to downgrade to a balcony.

Thanks

I am booked in a Jewel Penthouse suite and have had other Penthouse suites. The Suite perks are wonderful. I have read on other posts that NCL has the best. You will be taken aboard by your Butler and if your Suite is ready the Butler will show you how to operate everything. If not you will be taken to "Cagney's" for a great Lunch. Suites have the prevlege of having Breakfast and Lunch at Cagneys. The best perk. Your Butler can bring you any meal from any Dining room to your Cabin. Your Concierce will book all of your Dining Reservations and change them if you want them changed. The Cabins are bigger and you have a special Coffee maker with pods of different flavors. The list goes on and on. You will love the Embarkation and Disembarkation.:D Go on myNCL and you can find the list of Perks.

There are only a few extra perks for the Owners Suite that you don't get with the Penthouse. The Owner's Suites get 3 bottles of liquor included, all the soda and bottled water included, and 1 bottle of French Champagne instead of the Sparkling Wine you get in a Penthouse suite. The Owners Suites also have access to the Haven pool area as well, and may get reserved seatings for the shows.

The only things that are not included that you might have read about are 1) Haven Access (only available to Haven Level Suites), 2) No liquor included in penthouses (aside from one bottle of sparkling wine) nor free unlimited sodas/waters (aside from one bottle of water) and 3) reserved theater seating (this varies from sailing to sailing and ship to ship, generally only available for Haven Suites and above, ask you concierge if this is important to you). Otherwise, pretty much everything else applies! have a great cruise!

Be careful that Jewel has penthouse suites and 2 bedroom villas that do NOT have Haven access. I know it is confusing but check the prices. I know the Pearl is like this too. Some ships have suites with NO Haven access and the only perk is a buter and concierge.

If you want full suite perks, make sure you select Haven Penthouse or Haven 2 bedroom, etc

You guys are great! I knew I'd get good answers here. So no free liquor with the penthouse? No problem, I'll have OBC hanging out my ears...I'll just buy liquor, lol.

EDIT: When I talked to the PVP he said that this stateroom has a promotional Haven upgrade, but not Haven Access. Does that makes sense to anyone? I was too befuddled to even know what questions to ask.

I think it means they may offer your a special rate to upgrade to a Haven suite. Ask them and find out how much. The NCL suite perks are hard to beat. The only alcohol you get in a Haven penthouse is a bottle of sparkling wine. But you will also get 2 liters of bottled water too, fruit, flowers, treats delivered everyday, room service with hot food options, priority everything, etc

OK, whew...I panicked and called NCL back and was told that we will have all suite perks except for access to the Haven, which is how I wanted it to be. I'm feeling better now.

You guys are great, thanks so much. We've only sailed in a suite one other time (not NCL though) and it didn't come with near as many cool things. I'm going to go ahead and firm up my booking on this.

When they tell you have all suite perks, do they mean access to Cagneys for breakfast and lunch? Not trying to rain on your parade but I think that perk is for Haven guests only.

I hope you get what you expect because I read that the only perks for those suites were a butler and concierge ONLY. Please let us know because I always wanted to know the answer to this question.

Cagney's access is for all rooms with an S designation. It's not limited to Haven cabins (S+number).

Where is this coming from? I've never heard this before. We've stayed in aft Penthouse Suites on the Dawn and Star, and the forward Penthouse Suite on the Pearl. Cagney's and the other suite perks have always been included. None of these suites had courtyard/haven access.

OK, we're booked in an aft penthouse (SF), and I double checked one more time before booking. We'll get butler and concierge, sparkling wine, Cagneys for breakfast and lunch, treats, bottled water, fruit, 24 hour full room service menu, priority boarding/tender/debarkation/etc and all other perks except access to the Haven and free liquor. He said this is the first level category that gets all the perks. I asked if we could buy liquor by the bottle after we get on the ship and he said no, we'll have to order it through BV before the cruise.

So they ya have it. Thanks for all the help and opinions.

I think you need to be careful about saying that you "will be taken aboard by your Butler". I have stayed in many suites on NCL and have never been taken aboard by the butler. I think it depends upon the ship and the availability of the butler at the time of your boarding. The boarding by your butler is never mentioned in any list of the official NCL suite amenities.

Good to hear because I have heard conflicting stories and the NCL website is not very specific on these issues. It just says no haven access but you get butler and concierge. I dont understand alot about the suites that dont have Haven access. They get everything but just cant swim in a Haven pool? Sounds like quite the deal. I sure wish they had that on Epic

It all depends on the size of the ship. On the small Sky we were taken aboard by the buter. Large ships like Epic, forget it.

Not correct. All suites have access to Cagneys as well as the other perks mentioned.

This is correct. You get everything except access to the Haven formerly known as the courtyard. We were in a non Courtyard two bedroom on the Pearl and had everything except for that access. Our concierge took us up there one day and showed up the cabins -- exact same as what we were in. We saved a lot of money by not doing the Courtyard.

We were escorted onboard by a butler (not the one assigned to us). On the Epic, our friends were escorted as well.

Once in awhile , folks post some errors.

A few above are TOTALLY WRONG.

All real suites including those with the term penthouse get to use Cagneys for breakfast and lunch. They get all the great perks.

Mini-suites get none of the suite perks

Only OS and Garden Villa get the bottles of booze.

Only OS and Haven suites get Haven access (many do not care about this anyways).

Thanks for clearing it up. We didn't care about haven access, and free liquor is a minor thing, so it looks like we booked exactly what we hoped for.
