Capecodbeachfront Posted June 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2012 I'm looking for some advice on a cruise leaving from Fort Lauderdale. 5,6, maybe 7 day cruise... January or February 2013 I've done some research but am getting frustrated... I find a cruise that has good ports... but then I find the port is visited from 8-2:30... Seems useless considering how long it takes to get on/off ship! Any suggestions for a cruise with a good itinerary??? We are a couple of retired... 62 year olds if that helps. Yes, I would consider Miami as well...
maitlandmom Posted June 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2012 You may also want to consider Port Canaveral and Tampa.

Stevesan Posted June 20, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 20, 2012 Out of FLL there's the Crown Princess that offers a nice cruise! We done it and it's a wonderfull line!!!!! You should considere it!!!!;) A darn good suggestion. Princess has a number of Eastern and Southern Caribbean cruises from Port Everglades for Jan, Feb 2013. They are 7 days on Ruby and Caribbean Princess. http://www.princess.com/find/searchResults.do?time=205&trade=&ship=&duration=1&port=FLL&date=0113,0213&order=&filterBy=&tourdur=&ppax=&meta=I&noOfPax=2&resType=C&bID=PCDIR&pageOffset= P.S. Crown will be sailing from Galveston this winter.:)

RWolver672 Posted June 20, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 20, 2012 If you can stretch it into an 8 day cruise, the Freedom leaves from FLL on Feb 23, 2013. We stop at Grand Turk, San Juan, Tortola and St. Thomas with three sea days. This will be our first 8 day cruise. Have always done 7 day ones so far. Gradually working our way up to a B2B. :D We too are in our sixties - 64 & 63.
Rare Tapi Posted June 20, 2012 #8 Share Posted June 20, 2012 If you want a good itinerary, you'll have to look beyond 5-6 days. Not enough time for a "good" itinerary. I echo what others have said. Unless you are price driven, (in which case Carnival would be the top choice) , check out the other cruise lines (Celebrity, Princess, Holland, MSC), all with nice, varied itineraries to ports not found in the more traditional itineraries (specially if you can squeeze in a few extra days). Princess seems to have some of the best itineraries, including 10 day cruises to Aruba, the Panama Canal, and several Caribbean islands. Another option out of FLL is Royal Caribbean's Oasis twins. While the itinerary isn't great, the experience is absolutely wonderful. Have fun choosing!
serene56 Posted June 20, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 20, 2012 Most ports you will be onboard by 4:30 Few have an extended time to 8pm. -- we are on the Glory in janaury 27th because I wanted to check the new stuff out that is being put in during dry dock in Nov. The Valor is doing a one way out of Miami on February 3 and staying in San Juan-- that itinerary looks very nice
Rare Essiesmom Posted June 20, 2012 #10 Share Posted June 20, 2012 If you want a five day cruise, try Celebrity out of Miami. Two ports and two sea days...and you can book B2B and get different ports...EM
Capecodbeachfront Posted June 20, 2012 Author #11 Share Posted June 20, 2012 I will look into the smaller cruise lines as suggested here... Princess, Celebrity, Holland... What are some of the 'different' ports they visit? We have visited Nassau... okay but likely not worth a second visit. RC private island was nice but again likely not worth a repeat visit. Also will look into Glory... I did not know about the upgrades.... Of course the upgrades might be water park, etc... not of interest to me. We have friends who spend the winter in FLL... That's why I would rule out Tampa and Canaveral...
JaniceB Posted June 20, 2012 #12 Share Posted June 20, 2012 I saw a Freedom cruise that overnights in Curacao. My DH longer times in port. Anyone have any thoughts on this one?
