This is a really wierd question but here goes!! This'll be 1st cruise with NCL (super excited!!:D) and for some reason, I like to know these things. Does anyone have pictures of their cruise card(s)? You know, the ones that are your cabin key, onboard harge card, and pass to get on/off the ship in port. I'd just like to know what they look like!! :D Told you, wierd question!! :o

Thanks!! :D

NCL has assorted colors; I have purple, brown, teal, etc.

I'm sure someone will post what it looks like.

Are the different colours depending on the level you're at in the Loyalty Program? That's what Carnival does - Blue for 1st time cruisers, Gold for your 2nd-9th cruises and Platinum for 10+ cruises (plus special cards for Milestone Cruisers - 25th, 50th, 75th and 100th cruises)!! :D

No. The color depends on what type of stateroom/suite you have. At least that has been my experience on NCL.

That's interesting. Kind of like the different "Classes" that they had on the Titanic (or any of the older ships). So what colour are the ones for a regular balcony? We're in category BD (cabin number 11059) on Epic, can't wait!!!! :D :D

I have an olive colored one, light green one and a brown one. All were on Epic, same class rooms.

Who knows?

We've had cruises where the cards accidentally got de-activated and were given a different color than we originally had.

The Brown one was from a Deluxe Owners Suite on the STAR in April. We've never cruised in the Haven suites since I don't really like the Haven area, but I believe they have silver colored cards that also work in the elevator to get up to their cabins.

On our recent cruise the three of us staying in the same cabin all had different colour cards.

I was trying to figure out what the colours meant, but my conclusion is that they are random. It's actually quite handy as it makes it easy to identify which one is which.

I had a BE cabin and we all got pink cards, I asked if there was a difference and I was told by the check in ladies that it was just whatever card was there (except for the suites) so it might just be luck of the draw

Correct. Suite cards are Silver/Platinum. All other cards are random colors that don't mean anything specific.

Okay, first timer cruiser in August so be patient with me, please. What are the cruise cards - are they our room keys and everyone in the room gets one? Also, we'll have a 14 year old with us, should we bring a lanyard for her so that she doesn't lose hers?

I learn more everyday about cruising and I'm really getting excited!

Thanks for all the help!

Yes, they are your room key. They are also your key to getting on and off the ship. They double as your payment card, you use that for gambling, purchases on board and of course they will need your card for all bar tabs and spa services. It's your Key to the World (to steal another line's phrase). Your daughter might not need a lanyard, if she has pockets. I use a small cross body bag for my stuff on board (lip balm, pen and key card) if my pockets aren't deep enough. You might also want to set your 14 y.o. with her own account (using money she earns for the cruise) or set up a daily allowance so that you aren't shocked at the final bill if they spend a lot of time in the arcade, or buying smoothies and shakes.

Have a super time!! Please come back and tell us how it went.:)

Actually, the Brown is the new "suite" color. Our last two suites we got that color instead of the silver/platinum colored ones.

I liked the silver better.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm glad I asked - I will definitely set up her own account, she loves to shop!

Can you take $ on the ship for the slot machines in the casino or do you use your card? :)

Casino takes cash. Not your room/onboard acct card.

(some cruiselines do combine your players card with room card, not NCL)

I'm about to book my first NCLCruise on the Epic as a single traveller. I have previously been on RCL and I'm looking at your threads and posts regarding the Epic.

Thank you! :D
