Ship time vs. Island time?

I am booked on the Carnival Magic out of Galveston in September. Is Grand Caymen on Central time zone? The ship will be in port from 7:00am to 4:00pm shiptime. Is this the same time as the island time? The meeting time for the excrusion is 8:15/8:30 am. Do you think we'll have enough time to make this excursion time?

Just go by the ship's clock....no matter if it's set to the time, before or after! Your guide will understand how this stuff works. You MUST set your watch (not your cell phone!!!) to ship's time.

Yes...you should have plenty of time if this is a private tour. If it's a ship's tour, they will tell you where and when to meet.

If you are doing a Carnival excursion then your excursion time will most definitely be ship time if it is a private tour I would try to contact them to verify if they are going on island time or ship time (don't know what the time difference is in Grand Cayman). Also, as the above poster stated, always go by ship time, never island time.

Cayman is on Eastern Standard Time all year since they don't observe daylight savings. In the winter, they are the same time as Miami. In the summer, they are one hour behind Miami.

So, for your sailing in September, that should work out to be the same time as Galveston as an end result... :D
