Next Cruise Info

Recommended Posts

Just a little history and a couple of questions... I purchased a Next Cruise last year on the Freedom of the Seas.. My understanding was it was good for a future cruise for myself and 2 other cabins and each cabin would recieve $100 OBC on a 7 night cruise as well as reduced deposit...

I booked the Mariner for Dec 9th this last March and proceeded to invite others to go along :)

One couple reserved through my TA a couple of weeks ago and then another couple reserved 3 cabins this last week... My TA called and added the next cruise to one of those cabins and all was well until yesterday afternoon when she received a call from RCL and they informed her that they were removing the next cruise from the cabin recently added and were also going to remove it from the reservation made a couple of weeks ago :(... They stated that all cabins in a NEXT cruise must be booked with in 30 days of each other or you forfeit the benefit...

She screamed, yelled and escalated it until they agreed JUST THIS ONCE to allow us all to have the benefit but said we should have known better...

I went back and read my documentation and can not find anything about the 30 day rule... Has anyone else seen this?

In my case it doesn't matter since we won the war... but, it is something to be mindful of..

It sounds like you are using your Friends and Family Certificates and the other cabins do have to be booked within 30 days of the original booking.

Are your friends first time RC cruisers? If so, are you able to use the Refer a Friend discount also or is it only one discount per stateroom?

The wording is pretty clear on the friends and family certificate. It says, in the second paragraph in a decent sized font:

We are inviting you to share your exclusive Onboard Booking Bonus credit of up to $200 USD with your friends and family. Simply pass this certificate on to a friend or family member, they too will enjoy this special member offer when they book the same ship and sail date as your reservation. This offer expires within 30 days of your reservation. This credit can be used towards a dinner with friends in one of our specialty restaurants, a luxurious spa treatment, an adventurous shore excursion, or towards any of our other onboard offerings.

It also says on the certificate portion (the bottom third) of the page:

You are one step closer to your next Royal Caribbean International cruise vacation. Call your Professional Travel Agent and have them contact a Royal Caribbean International representative at 1-800-526-9723 within 30 days and mention your certificate number. Or call Royal Caribbean International directly at 1-877-476-2592.

Okay - this is kind of a dumb question, and since I've bought NCCs before, I probably should know the answer...BUT I've slept since then so I'm asking anyway in hopes somebody here knows.:o

How do you pay for your NCC when you buy it onboard? I think we handed over a credit card both times in the past. But our next cruise (August) has a bunch of OBC from 3 different sources. We're trying MTD for the first time, so the gratuities are paid already and we won't use that to offset the OBC. I want to buy one or two more NCCs on our cruise.

So...question is...can you charge your NCC to your seapass? Or is a credit card required?

Credit card has always been required for us.

Yeah...that's kind of what I thought, but it did seem like a fairly brilliant idea to use some of that OBC for a NCC or two. I guess I'll have to go shopping in the Britto store...:o

If your OBC is refundable (Visa Points, Gift from family/friends/TA), then anything left on your SeaPass Account at the end of your cruise will appear as a credit on your following months statement. If you use the same credit card to purchase your NC bookings..........the credits will help pay for the NC. :D

You only need to put down $100 when you initially create your NC bookings. Once you convert to a specific cruise then you will add another name and pay another $100 with no further money due until final payment.

Remember, some OBC is refundable, and even if it's not, you can get all but 3% back by getting cash against your SeaPass from the casino.

Right - we've harvested a little leftover non-refundable OBC in the casino before.:) And of course we've been using NCCs for while, so we're pretty much used to that $100 reduced deposit and the OBC that comes with them.

I didn't realize the RC Visa points OBC would become a credit on the next CC statement if it's left over, though. That's good to know...

I just can't help but wish you could charge the NCC to your seapass and pay for it with the RC Visa points OBC, thus generating another OBC with the NCC. There's just something very cool about that idea...it's like the neverending OBC...:p

Sounds like I did luck out :) or at least my friends did! My TA got them to to agree to let two of the cabins have the next cruise benefit even though it was after the 30 days!

3 of the four cabins were new cruisers so I get the $25 cabin OBC on those as well :D

Using a TA paid off for me this time...

I will remember the 30 day window next time.. Thanks again for all the information..
