Over night in bermuda - ship activities while docked

Recommended Posts

Bermuda doesn't allow lots to entertament. They want you to spend your money ashore. I remember my mother being very upset that the offerings on the ship were so small. I LOVE Bermuda and it is a great place to visit. I just wish I could live there.

I would take the ferry to St George or Hamilton. St. George has alot of historical sites and Hamilton is for shopping. If you just want to walk around the dockyard. You can watch them blowing glass in the glass factory. You also have a beach within walking distance of the ship. There is not a lot of activities on the ship when in port. The shops and the casino are not open. Bermuda is a beautiful island.

I remember there being a late night poolside buffet and dance party. This is weather permitting of course and it was canceled on a couple of trips. They do have some sort of show but the casino is closed.

everything on board is closed except for the restaurants and the shows.. no shopping, no casino.. limited activities.

get off and wander around. you'll be glad you did.

And, of course, the bars are open. Though they can have some entertainment aboard, I don't think that that can have anything to the level of the production shows unless something has changed.

Go to Gibb's Hill lighthouse. It is open for climbing and the views are spectacular. Crystal Cave is also very interesting. Horseshoe Bay beach is beautiful. Fort Hamilton was very interesting. I love forts. It is worth going to St. George. It is a very nice place to walk around.

There are plenty of taxis available to take you just about anywhere in Bermuda though they are a bit pricey. Buses will also take you to Horseshoe Bay beach, Gibbs Lighthouse and ferry service as well as bus service will take you to Hamilton and St. Georges. Multi-day passes for the bus and ferry system are available at the Dockyard.

I would recommend using the buses. You can get a one or three day pass and ride as much as you want. They can get you to just about anywhere you would want to go. The passes are also good for use on the water taxis which I really enjoy riding. There really is no need to do a tour. I use a scooter there but I also ride motorcycles. I would not recommend there use by anyone who is inexperienced in riding. It is hard enough to get used to driving on the "wrong" side of the street. And going through rotaries "back wards" can be an issue too.

I have never heard of the open air night club that you mentioned at Snorkel Park.

Thanks Ocean Boy............the bus pass tip is much appreciated and the water taxi sounds like fun too...........

Not sure where I read about the open air night club.......but we probably wouldn't do that anyway.........

Good scooter advise too.............I'm toooooo much of a chicken to rent one of those........LOL!!!

An important thing to remember is that what you're referring to as water taxis are called ferries in Bermuda. No one will know what you're talking about if you ask for a water taxi. I would definitely recommend taking a ferry to Hamilton or st. George. Not only is it a quick way to get around it's also a beautiful way to see the coast.

I don't know when you're going but during the summer there is destination dockyard on mon nites from 7:30-10pm. There is live entertainment & the stores are open. It's a great time to shop without wasting precious daytime hours.

So is it come and go as we please 24 hours a day while we're docked there or are there limited times for getting off and on the ship?
