Yayyyyy! The life rafts are getting installed, thank you.

I was hoping that the pillars that hold the life raft would not get in the way of the view of the boardwalk, but it does not look that way :/. Oh well.

Well decks 9 and 12 have the deepest balconies, so that might be why both need that beam for extra support. If you plan on changing go for 10 or 11 not 13 or 14.

It looks like that beam is seperating the corner aft cabin from the one next to it - no?

Hello All!

So we are 55 days out from setting sail !! Getting excited !!

From my what I have read we should be able to book our

Anyone else having this problem?

Also when do EDOC become available ?

I don't think so, I looked at several pictures and I think the beam will be in your cabin.

I think it would be unpleasant to have the stateroom directly beneath "the plank" -- constant screaming from above! ;)

Hi, Kris -- restaurant/entertainment reservations are supposed to be available 45 days prior to sailing. So we still have to wait a little longer.

It sounds like most folk's e-docs are available now, as long as you've completed your online check-in. You can check here:

Hi Mike!

Thanks for the information; I read somewhere that Haven guests get the option to book 55 days ahead ? Sorry I should have mentioned this in my original post.

Also tried the link and it said my reservation still is not ready :(

I see Norwegian Breakaway also has the same kind of tender that the new Royal Princess has.

Here are some details and up close pictures of what that tender looks like:

""The first in a new series of Type PL 14 boats described as “the biggest combined tender and rescue boat out of our production so far” has been delivered by lifeboat specialist Hatecke near Stade.

The 14.7m long and 5.8m wide newbuild, weighing some 20 tonnes, was loaded onto the Döhle cargo ship Catalina Din Stade along with ten other lifeboat/tender newbuilds of an earlier type, all destined for cruise ships.

The PL 14 is said to be the first of its type in the world. Hatecke said it is more manoeuverable, uses less fuel to power its two 170kW engines and has better seakeeping and operating characteristics than previous boats from the German manufacturer. It also has a completely new hull and, unusually for lifeboat/tenders, boasts panorama windows.

The delivery of the first PL14 comes after nearly two years of design, development and prototype testing, which reports said had cost €1.5m. Hatecke has built two big new halls just for the new product line.

The first of the PL 14s was for Italian shipyard Fincantieri for cruise ship passenger transport. A further 26 of the vessels, designed to carry 120 passengers when in use as shuttle tenders and 150 as lifeboats, are on order. Hatecke said they are mainly for Fincantieri and leading German cruise ship builder Meyer Werft and are for delivery this year and next."

Lifeboat 14 of Royal Princess being tested in Hamburg before loading onto a barge, and now having already been shipped to Monfalcone, Italy.

Very interesting....many thanks for the photo's. One big difference I notice from the older NCL tenders, is it is a monohull...usually the lifeboats are monohulls with one propeller, and the tenders are catamaran's with two propellers.

Now if they really wanted to get passengers on and off quickly, for tendering purposes, perhaps they should have got some of these!

372 passenger capacity would come in handy at tender ports, even though the RCI Oasis class ships always dock...

Almost as much capacity as NCL's "Little Norway I and II"....:)

I called yesterday. They are not sure when they will have the entertainment schedules to start pre booking. Does not appear it will start 55 days in advance :(

Nice, and so I guess now all there are left to acquire are some shots of the pool deck and upper areas. Maybe us CC'rs can start a fund to pay to send Mr. Depping up in a chopper to get some sweeeeeet aerial shots to add to the collection ;):D;):D

And after that, maybe we can spring for some scuba gear and night vision equipment so Andreas can carry out a clandestine Navy-SEALS-style mission to board Breakaway under the cover of night to nab some interior shots of the unfinished vessel.....:D

I though you didn't want to see any interior shots?

Hi Gambee!

The very tops of each davit that holds the lifeboat look as if it may only be as high as the railing along The Waterfront walkway. Shouldn't interfere with looking out since we stand several feet higher than the railing. Remember that picture is not taken at eye level with Deck 8 so it should be OK.

right now the aft pictures are really not very clear, in addition to that the aft is not even finished (missing partitions). This the best I could do.

That said I think you should reconsider deck 13, that one along with deck 14 have the smallest aft balconies. The deepest one is deck 9 followed by deck 12. 10 and 11 are similar in length, but larger than 13 and 14. Hope I make sense.

So obviously most of the cabin talk here seems to be about the aft staterooms, but with all due respect (and in all honesty I've done an aft and still don't really understand the draw of the aft cabins, but to each his own) I'd like to try to shift the conversation to what looks to be a truly unique balcony experience on this ship, and that is the M6 stateroom. These are of course the mini-suites with large balconies, of which there are 22 such staterooms on this ship. Honestly I'm blown away that more hasn't been made of these, not so much because of the cabins themselves, but really because (and I could be wrong on this) but to me these look to be some of the first balconies that give a truly outside-looking-in feel to a balcony, in exactly the same way as the Oceanfront is providing this feel for the first time on Breakaway. They look to be very glassed-in (if that makes sense) which would afford an extremely open feel compared to traditional cabins. I know some folks have made comments that they feel too "exposed", but then again, do you spend the extra coin on a balcony cabin for the view or for privacy?? At any rate, I'm extremely thrilled to see one of these first hand, and I've become very confident that these will yield one of the most unique balcony experiences available on a cruise ship. And for the record, here's our balcony for the 5/19 sailing :cool::cool: :

Some of you asked for detailed views of the aft cabins. Here is a set of photos in quite high resolution. So you should scroll vertically or horizontally to find you cabin. If you need the highest possible resolution just contact me:

Mr Depping, you are our hero. :) So there definitely is the beam in the balcony of the deck 9 and 12 rooms, but I think it would still be worth it for the extra space. Plus it will give you something to hold on to after you've had a few! ;). I think there is so much attention to those aft penthouses because 1) they look really friggin huge, and 2) there has been very little detail from the NCL site. Just a size and description with concept photos that don't tie themselves to any sort of room layout to know what they're actually like.

Those other balconies do look nice, much closer to the water.
