Ah that's right! Really amazes me that this massive ships can be built so (relatively) quickly, and right away they're ready to be cranked up and go full speed on the high seas. I mean is this not the first day basically that she's actually be fully fired up and cruising? Incredible. Now I'm sure there's loads of fine tuning & calibration to be done in the coming weeks (engines, instruments, etc), but still!

The wonders of modular building. Look what they can do with modular housing.

Speaking of full speed, one minor disapointment I have with the Breakaway, is the lower cruising speed compared with the Dawn and Jewel class. Usually not a big deal, except sometimes on the high speed run to and from New York City from Port Canaveral or Nassau when the ship may have to recover some time for weather or other delays on the tight schedule....

Catching up on 10 pages of chatter since her conveyance. Thanks to Gambee for all the hard work. I know what you're going through since I'm doing the same exact thing for 'my' new ship over on the Princess Cruises Forum. I have to wait a bit longer though to 'get mine' than you do Gambee!

264 days and counting...;)

Are you saying it will go slower than other ships?

Okay people, I can't go so long without an update on the Breakway! It has been HOURS since anything new has been posted and it is a shock to my system. According to my Ship Mate countdown, I have 54 days and 1 hour until we sail....I may have to be given a sed-a-give (Young Frankenstein reference) in order to wait this long.

I was afraid that this would happen once she left the ship yard, NCL is not releasing new info and she is out of range in the tracking system.

Hopefully we get some sea-trial pictures soon, I would love to see those.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether the Breakaway will be popular with spring breakers? DH and I snagged a balcony, deck 12, round trip March 11th out of Port Canaveral before that option disappeared, figured it was our only chance to sail the Breakaway from so close to home, just hoping it won't be over run with young'uns out of NY.

Beautiful pictures, gambee! Thanks for finding them!

I'd say it would be popular, but I don't think it would be cause for concern. Not all colleges have spring break at the same time and the majority of the spring breakers on your ship will be more interested in sunbathing and partying in the clubs than bothering you :) Young teens would be more annoying.

The worst cruises IMO are the 1-2 day party cruises. As the length of the cruise goes up, the likelihood of being disturbed goes down.

I had just read a thread about someone that had a horrible cruise just this past week because of spring break, drunk rowdy kids everywhere, but I think it sailed out of FL., we don't use the pool or the whirlpools so that wouldn't be a problem, but we do enjoy a nice dinner atmosphere and like the MDRs as much as the specialty restaurants, we have never sailed in March, always early Dec. or Jan.

To all that have supplied pictures and info about this beautiful ship, I thank you! This thread is at times the highlight for myself at work. However, all the pictures and info are making my decision to sail the Getaway almost an inevitability and NCL is making my cabin selection a royal pain!!

It's going to be an aft room for sure. With the latest pictures from Gambee (just a quick shout out to your Allure review...thanks for taking me on that voyage with you and solidifying my future booking!) it seems the partitions on the aft are not all in place quite yet. This is a pain as I'm trying to figure out whether to book an Aft Mini Suite (M1) or an Aft Penthouse (S6). NCL has not revealed the floor plan for either of these rooms.

There are only 2 Aft Mini Suites on the whole vessel and for the price I'm basically sold. The deck plans show the Aft Mini Suite as being 387 sq. ft. and significantly larger than the aft balcony beside them. However, the picture provided by NCL is that of a regular Mini Suite. A floor plan of the room specifically would go great lengths to selling the room to myself.

The Aft Penthouse is intriguing for the Haven suite perks obviously (would be first timers for the Suite life) but my wife and I are balcony snobs! While not a wraparound balcony as found on other lines, the balcony is a big selling point but I would like to view the floor plan before plunking down suite level money, you know?

Am I just being picky and too detail oriented? And does anybody possibly have floor plans of either? I know the latter to be a ridiculous question considering NCL doesn't even have them on their website...but the CruiseCritic family is just so crafty I have to try!

Again many thanks to all for the contributions! Wish I could join you all on the Breakaway but we are booked for a Bermuda cruise already this year. Looking forward to a similar thread for the Getaway!

We've booked an aft penthouse on the Breakaway, and the lack of floorplan is annoying. However, after going over this countless times here on CC and with my PCC. We have very "high hopes" that this will be the configuration of the aft PH (warning...it's just an educated guess):

As far as the aft mini suites, I seem to remember somewhere I read that the only 2 on the aft are handicapped accessible.

Hope this helps!

Hi! Maybe you will have better luck than I did, or the Getaway will be different, or NCL will change its policy, but I am sailing on Breakaway both in June, and again in Sept, 2013. In multiple calls, speaking to multiple reps, and then trying thru CAS, through which I often book, I tried to book the aft-minis, which were available when I booked both cruises, and last time I checked, were still available. Every time I asked, I was emphatically told that those were handicapped accessible cabins, and that they could not be booked without a medical certification. I understand the need for acccessible cabins, and I understand that NCL doesnt want people who dont need them scarfing them up, but it seems so unreasonable to me to only create two such cabins in an entire category, and then make them both restricted. Sorry if I sound less than empathetic....but I cannot tell you how much this annoyed me. Why would they make the ONLY two cabins in the category restricted?

They are the only 2 cabins under the mini suites that are disabled accessible. The cabins (aft facing balcony) directly above them on each floor are also disabled accessible and the majority of disabled cabins are towards the back of the ship so it must be down to accessibility and ease of design.

I understand placing them in close proximity to each other makes sense from a design side but with the aft being such a desired location it may not have been the best choice. No reason why they could not have made the disabled block someplace else.

I think the disabled have enough hardships in their day to day life that they are entitled to the little perk of an Aft view.

Oh, I surely agree. I just cannot understand why NCL did not make a couple of AFT mini-suites that were not restricted. There are unrestricted suites and balconies on the aft, but no mini-suites.

What an unbelievable thread! Thanks to everyone posting those fantastic photos.

After looking at some of those pictures, I do have some concerns though. I posted (about a hundred pages ago!) that the casino being open to the atrium might create a problem with cigarette smoke. I see that some others are worried about the same thing. I've walked past casino's on some ships and have nearly been knocked down by the smell. Hope they have some mechanism to mitigate that issue.

Does anybody else think the pool/pools in Haven are really small? How about the depth? Some of them appear shallow or am I missing something? Somebody said they believe up to eighty cabins may have access to the Haven! We are paying a mint to stay there this June, I really hope it maintains some of that intimate and private feel that Haven's aboard the Jewel, Pearl and Gem have.

Thanks for the quick replies...you guys delivered quickly as always!

The Aft Mini Suites being handicap accessible are not a problem and actually make deciding on a room easier now...I just wish NCL would have marked it as such! I also agree that at the very least there should be additional aft minis to choose from instead of the two that are available.

Onthegomom921...the floor plan you displayed does make sense. The general shape of the room as a whole matches that of the deck plan. Using the renderings provided at NCL.com's Getaway specific page, aside from aesthetics I would expect the general layout to match that of the floor plan you provided. Thank you very much...sounds like the Aft Penthouse it is!

One thing I don't get in some of the suites. Why is there a half bath in a room that is not technically a bedroom? It seems like a lot of wasted space. Sure if you have kids or family with you it would be nice to be able to lock them out, but really I would rather have the extra sq footage. Now the 2 bedroom suites or a full bathroom changes the game to me.

I don't know. Why would they put a handicapped room that far from an elevator? I know there are different handicaps but I would want to be real close to one.
