coffeebean Posted August 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2012 We are considering the Century for our next cruise. I know this ship is more intimate than the ships we have cruised on recently so I have a few questions. Is the Select Dining option available on Century? Is there a Captain's Club Lounge on board for cocktail hour for Elite status members? If not, is there a designated venue for the Elite cocktail hour? How many hot tubs are there and where are they located? Thank you.

Celebrity does not have a designated Captains Club Lounge on any of their ships. They default for the elite cocktail hour is Michaels however they may move it depending on how many Elites are on board.
A Sixth? Posted August 24, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Does the Century cruise staff add activities on board if we experience inclement weather in port in Alaska? I enjoyed the harpoon session they added at Toadspit Alaska when the sun broke out :p:p:p Seriously, they have a schedule and it is pretty set. It's Alaska and the weather has been factored in already. For example they have a "polar Bear Swim" in one of the pools at sail-away after scenic cruising the Glacier. If it rains or snows so much the better I bet.
curtdesilets Posted August 24, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Century is a great ship with a great staff. We were on the same Alaska cruise earlier this summer with "a sixth". The ship is older without all of the bells and whistles of the Solstice Class ships, but harks of the "good old days" of cruising. The food and service seems better than on larger ships, the spa is very nice, it has a full promenade deck which the solstice class lacks. We had a lovely time. And they really treat us Elites well. You'll see. For more details, here is my review: http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=103862

We are Diamond on RCCL and I'm looking forward to a smoke free ship interior, especially the casino, on Celebrity.

I know it is smaller....but it is inferior? How much smaller....... I did not start cruising until 2007 and NCL Spirit is the smallest ship I had ever been on. Does it feel small? I did Infinity inalaska last year and I loved it..... I was hoing to take my parents and daughter in July, but I wanted to try the Vancouver round trip instead of Seattle...... Still at over 71,000 tons the Century is still a big ship compared to anything we stated cruising on 25 years ago! The only thing I missed was the lack of the spa pool, which the Century has no equivalent to.

Hi Cheryl,:) I have sailed Century 6 times...she was my first Celebrity ship. Yes, she is smaller but when you say inferior?....not in the least (in my opinion).....I love her:D Does she feel small? Smaller than the S class ships yes. But as for the M class? She feels a little smaller but nothing inferior about her....again, that is only my opinion. If a person loves the mega ships? They might think she is too small.......but I don't:)
Northern Aurora Posted August 24, 2012 #13 Share Posted August 24, 2012 We have been on three of the M-class ships. We were on Mercury three times and were on Century last November. While the Century will feel a little smaller than the M-class ships I have never felt that either the Mercury or Century ever felt crowded. It is a very well designed ship with good traffic flows. We enjoyed our Century experience so much that this afternoon I booked the October 20th sailing.

I found out yesterday that our Family Veranda cabin has a full size bed next to the wall, (no way to move it either) and a full size sofa bed. DH will be sleeping in the regular bed and I will be sleeping on the sofa bed. We have not slept in a full size bed in years (we were thinner then) and don't plan on doing that on this cruise, especially with one side of the bed up against the wall. The only reason we are keeping this cabin is for the aft facing view which we find to be the best view on the ship.

I can't give a comparison because the largest ships I have sailed are the S Class on Celebrity. I believe Oasis and Epic are MUCH LARGER (using caps for emphasis only). I am sure you are going to notice a major difference though......with less than 2,000 passengers as opposed to 5,000+. Sounds like you have cruised often? Century is smallest ship in the fleet...70,000 tons sounds like you could put her inside the Oasis. This is just my view.....since you said you love the mega ships....hope you are not disappointed. curtdesilets Posted August 25, 2012 #21 Share Posted August 25, 2012 I will be cruising on the Century Oct. 5 , 2012 to Hawaii , this will be my fourth cruise on her. We like the more personal feel on the Century. It suits us. I in fact like all of the engineering marvels on the S class ships, but they start to lose the personal touch once ships approach or exceed 3000 passengers, like Reflection will. We are cruise veterans and have been on six of the mass market lines, including the X Millie. We cruised on one small ship, RCCL Monarch of the Seas and I was disappointed in that ship. She looked old, worn and very tired. I know to expect a small intimate feel on Century but I'm hoping she will be in better condition than the old Monarch. I'm also looking forward to a smoke free environment on board the ship. That will be a nice change, especially in the casino. We will eventually experience Celebrity's S-class ships and we look forward to that.

coffeebean Posted August 25, 2012 Author #25 Share Posted August 25, 2012 On Celebrity's website, the AquaSpa is described as the following... AquaSpa® by Elemis® Your destination for health, beauty and extraordinary relaxation, AquaSpa soothes both body and mind. Facilities include a Solarium, Persian Garden, private treatment rooms, and Fitness Center. I don't see a Solarium on the Century deck plan. I do see the Persian Garden. What is the surcharge for Persian Garden? BTW...I trust information I receive from Cruise Critics over information from Celebrity customer service reps. Hope you understand. Thank you.
