Explorer 2 questions

Hi all recent cruisers on the EX...When we were on her in 2010, they still had coin cash outs and buckets all around to collect the coins - win or lose... Have they upgraded to a receipt/ticket system yet on cash out?

Also, we will be on her again hopefully Oct/Nov in an E2, 7th deck. Are they flat sceens yet and have they updated to interactive TV, i.e. checking your bill on the screen, ordering, etc,

Thanks in advance and if there is anything pertinent you could add, we'd appreciate that information as well.

Safe sails:)

it's a mix on the TVs...and the slots...

you can check your bill and order excursions though...been there, done that....

last time i sailed, they were changing out some of the machines to ticket ones....looked like they still had some with coins when i visited a couple weeks back.....but there were at least 100 that were coinless...heck i still have about 14 cents worth on one ticket!!;)

sigh... the Tube TV in the JS I was in, in 2008 was dim and small... I so hope having an inside cabin that at least I'll have a bright TV.. .lol it isn't THAT big of a deal, but it just feels cheap and sort of $29.95 a night motel-ish...

..however RCI have promised a new Gold Simulator in Sept... so that's a definite plus.....

We were on the Explorer in May in a D2 with an old TV but our traveling partners were in the cabin next door with a flat screen. Go figure.

Explorer Casino in June was all ticket out. We had an old tv, our kids in the connecting cabin had flat screen & newer carpeting which was really noticeable at the connecting door! Not to RC - if you have to stop renovating somewhere, don't do it at connecting rooms:)

The buckets are gone....it's CI/CO...unless it's under a dollar in change...I guess they figure you can put that in your pocket!

As far as TVs....there's so little to watch, it really doesn't matter what kind of screen....as long as I can see it, it's good by me!

Thank you all for your replies....Unfortunately, I don't need a "bucket"....Never anything to put in there LOL.....Guess we'll wait and see about flat screen TV's -- not that we watch that much....It's sort of "just there"......

Hope we get a pretty decent, clean, upgraded cabin....Otherwise, I'll have to be on the balcony more :-)

Thanks again!!

Safe sails to all always

Hi,

We were on July 5th. Our room (JS 9258) did have a flat screen but, we had an issue accessing our account. Couldn't do it.

Can't comment on the coin cash outs but I didn't notice buckets in the casino. Not saying they weren't there, but if they were- there weren't many.

How many formal nights on a 10 day cruise:confused: Are most shows before late dinner?

Thanks

Probably 2..The night after sail a way and the next to the last night as well.

Shows vary: there is usually one at around 9:00 and then 10:45...sometimes they switch for whatever reason to 7:00 and 9:00 (not too often).

Hope this helps. :)

Just off EotS today (Aug 25) and our balcony room (7668) had a CRT, but when I stopped to talk to our room attendant in the same room two doors down, I noticed they had a flat screen. My guess is they are replacing the CRTs with flat screens as they break. Our TV itself worked fine although the buttons on the remote are no longer readable.

The interactive TV is an add-on box at the back of the TV, so it doesn't matter what kind of TV it is. Ours wasn't working at first and our room attendant had to call in to their technical department to get it reset.

Oh, and since you asked if anything else was pertinent: They have the new Coke machines in Cafe Promenade and Windjammer.

Thanks for the quick update...We don't drink Soda so that's no big deal for us. Again, TV's no biggie either. More important, how was your cruise overall, please..Food, entertainment. If you have time to post, we'd love to hear a bit about it --pros and/or cons.

Have a wonderful Sunday and safe sails always

Best suggestion I would have for that is read the reviews and/or search this forum. You'll find lots to keep you busy. Just remember each of these is one person's opinion.

We were in a D1 cabin on deck 7 in June and had a flat screen interactive TV. I don't know what you're talking about with the coins and buckets.

The coins and buckets are in regard to the slot machines. In the past, slot machines paid out in coins and the casino would have buckets to collect them. Now, many casinos just print a slip of paper and you have to cash it out with a cashier.
