gkm Posted May 7, 2004 #51 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Neal, If we're FODing members, I would think we could use Danno's credit card. FODing members should get special perks. Tatka Posted May 7, 2004 #57 Share Posted May 7, 2004 I became cruise worshiper when I wasn't even cruising. I was about 10 and living in former USSR. Cruising and specially cruising other counties was something mostly for "chosen" people. My grandfather is an architect and professor in the university (at 74 still works) had access to buy cruises. During my childhood and before he (and sometimes grandma) went atleast on 3-4 Mediterranean cruises and around the Europe( Denmark-France-England-Spain-Italy-Turkey). Each of these cruises were at least 22 days. He made albums about every cruise and country he visited and I spent tons of time reading/looking at the pictures in these albums. At that time I made a promise to myself to cruise when I grow up!!! We lived pretty far from any sea city but when on vacation on the Black Sea (Yalta, Odessa, Sochi) I remember running into the port every morning to ckeck the ships that arrived overnight !!! I was really fascinated with it. I remember looking at the people walking off these ships as at Gods. ------------------------------ Less than 2 weeks till my dream Med vacation! Since I have seen the light (in the toilet bowl, late at night) and smelled the smoke of the burning pig at the barbeque (not a bush but close enough), I feel that I should go in your place........ bpd528 Posted May 7, 2004 #60 Share Posted May 7, 2004 another symtom would be that you are the office TA, you arrange cruises for everyone else while you book and relive you past cruises. northerncruszr Posted May 8, 2004 #62 Share Posted May 8, 2004 My name is Mary Lou and I answered tooooo many yeses (sp? ugh) so I admit I am a cruise junkie. My husband Larry is too as he wants to have a travel meeting almost everyday - he calls them travel meetings just to hide the fact he is so into cruisng - isn't that another symptom??. Would like to join the FOD Clud but gee whiz......I have to go pack for our back to back Hawaii Infinity cruise on Sunday! Can I join when I get back? I am ready to admit the need for therapy! NJ Cruisers Posted May 9, 2004 #63 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Help ME!!! My name is Donna and I am a cruise addict! I have most of the symptoms you have listed and some even worse! Do you leave your TA voice messages without your name and number and he knows the voice by sound and your number by heart? Has your TA ever called just to see how you are beause you haven't spoken in a week? Has your TA ever called for YOUR advice about a cruise? Do you shop for evening shoes based on how well you can walk in them after 2 martinis on a moving ship? Do you shop for "cruise clothes" even when you don't have one booked yet? Do you refer to cruise ships by name only as if they were one of your family? The list goes on! We need oficial recognition so our insurance will pay for the treatment-more cruises! Just a few weeks to the Zenith and Bermuda! I need my fix! Donna
davis0056 Posted May 9, 2004 #64 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Donna, I love you're symptoms. But Dave and I have decided that none of us have a problem, its everyone else! The only thing we had trouble identifying with from your list was 'not having a cruise booked.' We can't remember the last time we didn't have at least one booked-sometimes more than a year in advance. NJ Cruisers Posted May 9, 2004 #65 Share Posted May 9, 2004 I changed jobs last year and have suffered through a year without a whole week off! We are booked on the Zenith 6/5/04 for the Adults Only trip to Bermuda and are now looking at a 10 day over the Thanksgiving holiday (let's me turn 5 vacation days into a 10 day cruise!). I am back to booking as much as my vacation time will allow! New adddition to the symptoms list: How big a lottery jackpot do you have to hit to retire on a permanent cruise? Danno Posted May 10, 2004 Author #66 Share Posted May 10, 2004 We may have a cure...lets call it "overload therapy" take a HUGE amount of cruises in as short a time as possible and the overload of happy feeeling will become so overwhelming that the addiction is broken!! There must be a gov't grant to test just such a therory!! marco Posted May 10, 2004 #67 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Between all of us, we must know SOME doctor that will classify this as a bonafinde illness in which case medical insurance WILL PAY FOR A CRUISE!!!!!!!
NJ Cruisers Posted May 10, 2004 #68 Share Posted May 10, 2004 OK, we need a medical sounding term to describe this disease so we can register it as an offical condition requiring extreme medical treatment. We must be certain that the treatment is properly defined, something like "requires 6-8 weeks annually on a Celebrity cruise ship in no less than a suite with a minimum $? per cabin credit for incidental on board treatment as needed". Anyone got connections at a medical insurance company?
