mamakinrocks Posted August 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2012 Do older teens (16, 18) have to be in their cabins at a designated hour? I have seen several mentions of this age group being harassed by security to get to their staterooms by 1:00am. I know that kids generally want to hang out with their new friends, later than this time. We have never had this issue on Celebrity or on Voyager class ships. Yes, it's a 1:00 am curfew and from my perspective that is plenty late. Security doesn't harass the kids, they just ask them to return to their cabins. The rules are well publicized and should not be a surprise to anyone. Those are the rules, if that's a problem then the kids should stay home. Texmike Posted August 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2012 The curfew for ages 17 and younger is 1 AM and from our experience it is pretty strictly enforced. If there is an organizes youth activity I think they can stay out later.

All RCI ships, including Voyager-class, have a 1 am curfew for 17 and under, unless attending a teen club event or accompanied by a parent. akcruz Posted August 29, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 29, 2012 Mamakin, I did post on your other thread about activities, but did want to mention here as well since it is somewhat pertinent, having a 16 and 8 year old may cause some concerns if you want them to do activities together. The 18 year old will not be allowed in the teen club most likely while they will be allowed in the adult disco, casino, etc. The 16 year old on the other hand will be allowed in the teen club and not in the adult locations. Just something to keep in mind, the rules do differ for these two ages.
bethco Posted August 29, 2012 #11 Share Posted August 29, 2012 There are teen organized activities that take place later than 1am. As long as there were organized activities teens could stay there. I believe that 2am was the ending time for a number of these.

COMBOY Posted August 29, 2012 #13 Share Posted August 29, 2012 Is there a curfew for 18 year olds? Thanks again. No, 18 years old are considered adults; however, they can't consume alcohol until 21.

Depending on how many kids are in the club and how close the 18th birthday is to sailing, the 18 year old maybe allowed to in the club - YMMV. Our family recently went on Oasis and my son, who had a threshold birthday second day of sailing, got a special sticker to participate in younger club activities. I went with him to the club on the first day (during the day, when no other teenagers were there - so that not to embarrass him). We talked to a person who worked there and she said to come down when there is an activity to see if he is interested to stay there. He then got a special sticker on his card that indicated that he can be in that club.
