Carnival Players Club response !

I totally forgot about calling Michael, but I did think to reply to the email I mentioned earlier and asked him for clarification, since I thought his reponse was rather vague.

Told him I just really didn't understand how and when perks were given although I knew it was supposed to be based on prior activity; how I got the nice wine & fruit basket, water, and photo coupon on Glory last year and spent WAY more on that cruise than normal, yet when I sailed 6 weeks later, I received nothing.

No response yet.

Seeing this thread reminded me to call about our trip in 4 days.

Last trip DW and I both had casino cash and I took the coupons but they never asked for them we were on the list. Since we have a few cruises booked with different offers/booking dates I asked this a.m. which coupons I needed to take and they said my wifes was listed but mine wasnt. Told me to take the coupon for myself or I wouldn't receive the $$. Also, was told they are phasing out the in room Bon Voyage packages and delegating more of that to on board staff. So you may be rewarded while on board rather than on past play.

Moral of the story: If you get a coupon in the mail, take it with you. Better safe than sorry

(Hi Joan!-We were on the same excursion in Panama, a few cruises back-you, your daughter, and I all got soaked on motor boat to the Indian village:eek: Steve from Tucson)

A few weeks ago I sent an e-mail to the Player's Club Feedback-a week later I received a reply from Michael that I qualified for $50 cash-(no premium gift basket)just pick it up at the casino cage. The previous cruise I received the premium gift basket-no cash; I'm not complaining, and am pleased with any perks they'd give me-just no rhyme or reason, on how this is determined.. (Both cruises I played the slots enough to qualify for the Drinks on Us Program-and I actually am not much of a drinker;)!) Will be interested in the response from Michael......Happy cruising:cool:

Hi Steve! Other than being totally soaked on that canoe ride, that had to have been my favorite excursion so far. That was such a great cruise. That convinced me that I need to do a Panama Canal cruise, but now that I'm usually sailing solo, I just can't afford it. :(

Yes, I "earned" the Drinks-on-Us card on my 6-night Bermuda cruise. This is what happens to me when I sail solo.

I'm solo on Leg 1 of my upcoming cruise, so I'll probably spend more time in the casino than I should. DD's getting married on the 20th and they're coming on their honeymoon on Leg 2, and my friend who introduced me to cruising back in 2001 on Jubilee is joining me. I'm hoping they'll keep me otherwise occupied, since I'm paying so much wedding/honeymoon expenses, I really don't need to be wasting money in the casino. But you can't win if you don't play, right! ;)

A gift basket would be nice to put in their cabin, though!

Got a response from Michael yesterday.

We no longer provide bon voyage gift to guests who have a cash offer they are redeeming. Any additional comps will be extended to you on board and based on your level of play. Let me know if you have any further questions and/or concerns. Thanks!

Not exactly the response I was hoping for. Guess I'll just find the casino host when I board, introduce myself, explain that I'm on a B2B and am solo on Leg 1 so will probably spend a bit more time in the casino than I do when I'm sailing with friends/family and see what happens.

I really don't need to be dropping a bunch of money in the casino just to hope for a gift basket! I could just order one and have it sent to my cabin!!
I also got the premium package on my Destiny cruise and it was a fruit basket, bottle of wine, cheese & crackers, 2 large bottles of water and a $15 picture coupon.

My husband ate most of the fruit. He said it was delicious.
I was promised that on a cruise. The casino had me on the list as receiving a gift basket. The kitchen, who apparently makes up the baskets, didn't. I had to go to the Internet cafe and print out the email so they could show it to the kitchen. It was really a joke. Even then they said they had to wait until Monday when the office in Miami was open to confirm it.
When I was on the Internet, I sent a message to John Heald telling him about it. He felt so bad about the screwup I ended up getting two baskets. One from him and one from the casino.

If I were told I was to get the gift basket (as I did on my Bermuda cruise), I would print out the email and take it with me. I print ALL my confirmations (of everything including even my emails stating my OBCs have been applied).

It's just so much easier to have something in writing.

Or maybe I could just wait until I board, tell someone I was supposed to receive one (even if I'm not), complain to John, and get one anyway! :o

Steve, if I ever relocate to Phoenix, like I want, I might do that. Have been white-water rafting in West Virginia on the New River years ago. I'll tell Claire you wished her well. Two weeks from now is the wedding, then I board the ship the next Monday. :D
I just called the players club - we booked for4 the Magic in 2 weeks on the players club special and are getting $100 and $125 in casino cash. Dont get me wrong - these are great deals - 25% off the cruise plus money - i shouldnt complain. But......I asked if there were other offers and was told that there are no other offers out there for us. My boyfriend got the "On us" drinks card on tha last cruise and my totals were almost high enough by the time we left - I would think we would have gotten something at this point - even jsut strawberries or wine. Guess I am missing something here. Oh well - I guess beggers cant be choosers.....we did some great things already.
When I talked with them, they said that if you use the discount on the cruise plus the casino cash, that is all that you will get. If you don't book under that rate, you will get the gifts.

Well, I originally booked under the casino rate, THEN I received the voucher in the mail, THEN I changed my cruise(s) and am not currently under the casino rate.

So who knows? They probably won't honor the voucher because of the ship change AND won't give any gift because they think I booked under the casino rate.

We'll see, but I'm guessing I'll end up with nothing. Oh well. I'll still go introduce myself to the casino host/ess. Maybe (s)he will take pity on me and extend my points from Leg 1 to Leg 2.

We always contact any of the Players clubs on Carnival/Princess and NCL before We book.

Michael has always been Very Very Nice and Helpful....

Also it doen not matter if you were on a Carnival Cruise or Princess and then going on the other, They'll look up your play and based on it offer you some sort of perk.

On our Upcoming Carnival Splendor Cruise in Nov He looked up our last Princess cruise and based on that We Got:

1)-%25 Off Casino Rate for the cruise.
2)-I get $400 Cash,DW $250 and MIL-$150.
3)-Plus We all get the Free Drinks On Us Cards FIRST DAY...
4)-Also mentioned something about Free goodies in the room...

WOOOOOO HOOOOOO LOVE IT and Cant Wait.:)

I did have everything emailed to me direct from the Casino Dept Verifying all this JUST IN CASE....I've read on here about people getting on the ship and having problems getting what they were offered or it taking a day or two for them to contact someone in the main office.....

Also We ALWAYS Introduce ourselves First day to the Casino Host, Pit bosses, Managers etc......

It goes a long way and Weve been comped Free Dinners, Wine and goodies througout the cruise lots of times....

EVERYONE HAVE A BLAST AND GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEXT CRUISE...:D

If 1 point = $2.50, and you need at least 1000 points...if not 1500 --to get the free drinks . . .then am I correct in saying you have to spend at least $2,500-4,000 to get any casino perks? Are the points cumulative --or do you start at "0" and have to hit this mark on each cruise?

My wife and I will be doing a B2B in April and hope to have the same thing done, but who knows? Our second leg is also our platinum cruise, so we'll have to make sure that happens as well.

Good problems, at least. Congratulations on the wedding, and good luck to the newlyweds!

In the case of the slots, it is money through the machine. That includes all of the jackpots that are won and put back. You've heard people say they played a slot machine for two hours on a $20 bill - this is an example of that; they actually probably ran a few hundred dollars or more through the machine during that time.

The point is that yes, it may take the amount you noted through the machine to earn the perks; If you are lucky, it will cost much less or no actual dollars.

If you plan on risking the dollars anyway, you might as well try to get some perks.

I may have posted this already...

before my HAL cruise (November 2010), I emailed Michael and asked whether my Carnival activity would carry over to HAL. He said it would, and asked for my sailing info.

Several days into the cruise, the hostess came up to me and said she'd been trying to catch me and that I had some cash at the window. Don't remember how much, but it was a pleasant surprise.
