Bad Weather off Alaskan Coast - Sitka Canx but ...

We are getting a full day in Ketchikan and Victoria. I guess it works out. Sent a quick email and got rescheduled with Michele at Island Wings. Sad to miss Sitka, but better than hurricane force winds and seas.

I've heard on the news some areas of Alaska have had flooding rains.

What a difference a week makes...

 

We were in Alaska last week (Sept. 16 - 23) and had WONDERFUL weather.... calm seas, sunny & mild.

We loved Sitka, but we wished we had more time in Ketchikan and Victoria too. You'll have a great time anyway. Roll with it :)

Also where in Alaska.... I was on the Amsterdam Sept 7-21 and we missed Homer and Kodiak, but Sitka was lovely (that wass the end of our trip). Mother Nature just loves to keep us guessing.

Sitka does tend to be vulnerable to bad weather and I believe it's not unusual for ships to be forced elsewhere. We were there on 4 July this year and it was a flat calm! Even the whale watch boat operators said it was exceptional. You just never know.... You'll have a great time in Ketchikan and especially Victoria, one of my favourite cities in the world.
