510picker Posted October 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Does anyone know if purchases made online before the cruise (Pinnacle, Tamarind, etc.) count towards earning bonus cruise days like the amount spent onboard does? Thanks in advance!
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted October 3, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Yes, they do. Even though you pay in advance, these charges "count" toward the extra days, same as money spent onboard.
sail7seas Posted October 3, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Yes. Any spending you do in advance of sailing is counted.
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted October 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2012 This question got me thinking. Does any other line do this? I know Cunard doesn't.

Carole_T Posted October 3, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Does anyone know if purchases made online before the cruise (Pinnacle, Tamarind, etc.) count towards earning bonus cruise days like the amount spent onboard does? Thanks in advance! Good question! And love the answer. We already have over $600 in excursions, etc charged to our cruise in December. Glad we'll get the extra days credited:D
PathfinderEss Posted October 3, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Yeah, I always book my dinning reservations on line several months in advanced and it is always credited to my 'bonus' days for that cruise.
jtl513 Posted October 3, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Also any gifts from your TA or friends/family count as your spending unless they are on the ship with you. In that case, the money counts toward their spending.
cruz chic Posted October 3, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Princess? No, but you do get double credit for paying the double single supp. Hal doesn't do that.
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted October 3, 2012 #10 Share Posted October 3, 2012 No, but you do get double credit for paying the double single supp. Hal doesn't do that. That's a nice gesture. The single supp really hurts.

Carole_T Posted October 3, 2012 #14 Share Posted October 3, 2012 $600 gives you 2 bonus points. Am I correct to assume that both of us, DH and I, get the credit?
Rare kazu Posted October 3, 2012 #15 Share Posted October 3, 2012 Am I correct to assume that both of us, DH and I, get the credit? yes, if you are in the same cabin - you both get the credit. cle1 Posted October 4, 2012 #19 Share Posted October 4, 2012 As one builds up "stars" and goes well beyond 4 stars, (500 days and above) does the count ever go to strictly Sea Days? Also, wouldn't it be a nice recgonition gesture if once one goes over 500 or 700 days, that person would get a special colored room card? Carol:)
sail7seas Posted October 4, 2012 #20 Share Posted October 4, 2012 Strictly Sea Days are all that count toward the Mariners Medallion Program. There are two Mariner's Programs running concurrently. The Star Mariner Program caps off at 200 days (until you get into the Five Star/President's Club over 1,400 or some such number of days. ) Bonus days for booking a suite and for spending count toward Star Mariner Program but do not count toward the Medallion Program. Copper Medallion = 100 days Silver Medallion = 300 days Gold Medallion = 500 days Platinum Medallion = 700 days Those are real, actually on the ship days. :)
catl331 Posted October 4, 2012 #21 Share Posted October 4, 2012 Those are real, actually on the ship days. :) Except Alaska land tour days with HAL also count now. Not that that makes a lot of difference to most people! :)

I know those days count for the Star Mariner Program.

jtl513 Posted October 4, 2012 #24 Share Posted October 4, 2012 I have been able to find out the number of days we haveaccording to the HAL site but I cannot find the number of actual sea day. Is this available on their site? Yes, indirectly. If you log in and go to My Account and click on My Mariner Status on the left side you will see four columns: Cruise Day Credits, Onboard Spend {sic} Cruise Day Credits, Suite Bonus Cruise Day Credits, and Total Cruise Day Credits. Column A is the actual sea or cruise-tour days. The easiest thing to do is take the Total in the lower right corner and subtract what's in columns B and C. For the Medallion program? If so, I think it should be but I wasn't sure that is the case. Yes. If they had not counted our 4 land days on our '05 Statendam cruise-tour we would have been two days short of getting our Copper Medallions on the '10 Nieuw Amsterdam. Originally those land days did not count, but that was changed about the time the Star program was started. :)
sail7seas Posted October 4, 2012 #25 Share Posted October 4, 2012 :) Good. I'm happy they changed the rules just in time for you to get your Copper Medallion. :)
