I'd like some opinions about upgrades we got!

Am I the only one lost in the weeds? I figured out HAL, TA and ASAP. But you lost me with SZ, GTY, VH, VA, :eek: and most of the other abreviations in this and so many other threads. :confused: I have to do research before I even log on to do my research. Is there a thread for novice cruisers who don't have a degree in cruising?

Check the stickies at the top of the board. There's an entire thread dedicated to spelling out the alphabet soup.

For starters, SZ, VH, and VA are cabin categories.

GTY is short for guarantee, a way to book a cabin by category, but not by specific cabin number.

We were upgraded from a HH to a VA for $15.00 total, then today upgraded to a VA facing the aft. Very happy.:):):)

AMAZING! You paid for a HH and got VA! (and I thought our VH to VB to VA was great).

Best upgrade I've seen!

Are you on deck 8?

I guess we're happy...

Good points:

- Can finally get to try out an aft-facing balcony.

- We also get a nice view, being up on deck 8.

However, worried about:

- noise caused by pool deck in our VA;

- not really sure about the advantages of being in a suite;

- not jumping on the opportunity of trying out a suite (should I be able to obtain it) and regretting it later;

- getting a suite and ending up mid-ship on level 5 (SZ) = bigger cabin but with an "ordinary balcony view" vs current location.

This is why I wanted some ideas and opinions.

Thanks.

One thing about an SZ over a VA, is that you get double cruise day credits with a SZ (this assumes you paid for the SZ, not just a free upgrade).

Dave (or others),

The double cruise days are one of the questions I have. I started with a VH GTY and found the SZ cabins only $150 pp more and I then called and got my reservation changed to the SZ, but with the same reservation number. Will I get double mariner points still?

The other question and trying to not get to off topic, but don't want to waste a thread on it is, if you buy a future cruise credit does that count toward the $300 per day bonus day?

If you changed your reservation and it wasn't an upsell offer - then yes, I would think that would count towards your double days .

The Future Cruise Deposit (or Credit whatever you want to call it) does not count towards the $300 per day bonus. It is charged separately to your credit card - not to your on board account:)

Thanks, those are the answers I thought but wanted to clarify. :)
