Romantic, uncrowded spot with chairs?

Just got back from Cayman and spent the day at Calico Jacks. $20 for two chairs and a large umbrella. Great beach and free wifi. Would definitely recommend. We did not eat or drink so can't comment on the menu. We stopped at Tiki Beach first and they wanted $25 per person for chair and umbrella (that included a "free" drink though). We had a great day!

Did you take a cab or the bus,is it far from the ship? Still trying to decide what beach to go to in Grand Cayman.

Hi!

Anyone who has been to Grand Cayman would be the ideal candidate for helping me with this.....

We are leaving on our cruise on Sunday and I haven't been able to figure out anything to do in Cayman yet. We have packed excursions planned in every other port and nothing really beach-related. So we decided we wanted to do the beach in Cayman....my question is: we definitely would like to have chairs but we would prefer to be somewhere more secluded, less touristy.

Is there a place where we can rent or find beach chairs but we also won't be surrounded by people?? & if so, how do we go about getting there? and about how expensive is it in a cab?

Thanks so much!

Yes...all the public access points along 7-Mile Beach have chair/umbrella rentals. Sea Grape also has restrooms, restaurant, and watersport rentals. Take the bus...$2.50 pp. It's right across from the tender dock.

When you get there, ask the chair guy to put you in a more secluded spot....he can move you down the beach aways. How crowded it will be will depend on many factors.....it's not the same every day!

When you leave, there will be a bus near the road....the bus is easy-peezy!

Any of the beach clubs or public beaches will be crowded. You can look for a less busy spot but it's hard to be alone and still have amenities.

I would rent a car and drive to Rum Point or to Kaibo. RP may have some ppl who are staying on the island or stopping on a boat but it would be our choice for what you are looking for, you can find a quiet spot on the beach. Chairs are free, great food (grouper BLT is excellent and their mudslides are the best). If RP is not to your liking you can drive to nearby Kaibo beach club and also visit Starfish Point.

45 min drive is easy and rental is cheap enough.

Just took a cab to Smith cove ($15). No one there. No chair rental that day but they do have bathrooms. We took our own drinks and snacks in for the day. We could not get a cab back so walked about 2 miles back into town. We needed the exercise after eating all the food on board. One of the most peaceful places I have every been.

Yes no amenities or taxies there, and a good walk as you said. When we were staying on the island we drove by a few times and stopped twice but it was crowded on ship days, and many locals were there on non-ship days. But it can be a nice spot for a picnic if you are lucky enough to be there alone. But it is close to the road so not really a secluded beach at all.

We usually stop at Smith Cove on each visit to GC. Get there earlier in the morning and usually have the place to ourselves or share with a new mother or nanny and their charge (they come for the tranquility).

Locals will start to drop by around noon to spend their lunch breaks and sometimes cruisers as well.

Never been bothered or even noticed any intrusive noise or commotion from the road, just the lapping or occasionally crashing of the waves. Almost every beach on GC isn't far from the road , since the road encircles most of the island. Truly one of the most picturesque spots on GC in our minds.

You can hang out on their picnic tables if you buy a drink or food. We bought a couple of diet cokes for $2.00 each and stayed for about 3 hours. Left our stuff at table & swam in ocean. Nice bathrooms & showers. $5 van ride each way per person. The water was beautiful.
