BaryBazz Posted November 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2012 I sailed on the Riviera in the summer and have sailed on over 50 cruises with other cruise lines including RCCL, Celebrity and Crystal. The ship and most of things about it were superb and I am going back on it over Xmas. However the entertainment was poor and the casino was well below par. I love to have a bit of gamble after dinner but the craps table was very small and there were no odds offered other than single odds on the pass line which detered a lot of players. Also there was no poker and the staff were extremely abrupt and unhelpful. Do any other casino players agree and who should I write to rectify. Mura Posted November 2, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2012 We've never entered the casino (other than sometimes to walk through it) on any of the O ships (Riviera is the only one we have NOT been on) so I can't quibble with your comments ... and they strike me as similar to comments I've seen in the past. And the entertainment level is a common complaint (I definitely won't argue with you there) -- although people have said that it has improved recently. We did go to a couple of shows on Regatta in August and felt that the level had improved, but we aren't big on the glitzy type of show anyway. I'm sure many will agree with you on both your points. Since the O staff (including the boss man) monitor this board, you may not have to complain to anybody. Mura

Barry We aren't craps players, but like roulette, blackjack and slots sometimes. I'm expecting the Riviera to be small in size for the casino on our trip, but perhaps the ship will not be full. It is our first Oceania cruise. The last cruise we took (another cruise line), my DH said he would take something to the room for us while I went to the casino. He was supposed to meet me in the casino... long story short, he passed out in the room and 3 weeks after our cruise I got a casino cruise credit for our next cruise. His question was, "What the heck happened when I wasn't there?" :D We do plan to do some gambling in the casino and I hope Bingo is active - we love Bingo. At the same time... we are very hopeful to have artists and photography classes on board! We are crossing our fingers. Sorry you found the casino not up to your par. JimandStan Posted November 2, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Also there was no poker Sorry, but that is incorrect. Perhaps they were not offering the type of Poker that you had hoped, but two of the gaming tables rotate through Three Card, Four Card and Caribbean Stud Poker. The other tables offer Blackjack, at varying wager levels, and I have also seen Let It Ride and Texas Hold'em played.

oceanbill457 Posted November 2, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Barry is absolutely correct that craps players get jobbed on Oceania ships. I sailed on Marina the previous summer and they had single odds. I will be on Riviera next year. I hope this changes.

Barry I haven't sailed on Riviera yet but I found the Marina's Casino area to be way to small. After dinner alot of people congregate in the casino to play the tables or the slots and alot of the nights, people were lined up waiting for a turn. And let's not mention the people trying to walk thru the area and the congestion that added! I was hoping that they would have improved this on the Riviera, but it's not sounding very promising :( I am still looking forward to experience the Riviera for the Christmas/New Year sailing, come join us on the roll call Barry. Riviera Island Holiday - December 20, 2012 Strange, any time that I have sailed Oceania, the Casino's were little used. Stan loves to play but dislikes being alone at a table, so I get hourly reports in Martini's.

I agree ..on our Marina cruise it was hardly used B2B on Insignia first cruise it was somewhat used ..2nd leg it was empty It depends on the passengers & their gambling habits :D Lyn

Barry We are taking our 1st Oceania cruise this upcoming July. What was the minimum bet on the Blackjack Tables? I tend to gamble longer and less stress free if they have some $5 tables, as opposed to $10. Also, any penny or nickel slots?? My take on cruise ship gambling: You will not win, so it's best to stretch whatever disposable gambling funds as long as possible:D
