cruisenguy2 Posted November 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2012 We are booked on a cruise in feb. on explorer of the seas and had a few questions about the kids program. Our son is 3 and can have a bit of a melt down when we drop him off for daycare or child care at the local Y. He settles down in literally a couple of minutes at the most and then is fine and has a blast. At the Y I can see him through the windows and literally by the time I am walking past them to go to the track he is playing after literally clinging on to me. Will the kids program still take him like or will they be like IKEA and not take crying kids. The second question is regarding the family time dining program. How late do they keep the kids and do they have cots for them to fall asleep on?
crusinmama06 Posted November 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2012 They do take crying children. They will call you if he doesn't calm down in a reasonable amount of time. But generally they are pretty good with that. And as far as the "time it closes" - the FREE services end at 10pm and the kids are rolled into the "Late Night Party Zone" for $6/hour - the kids don't know when that time begins. It's seamless. So it's not like they will come in and move him ;) it's just what they call the "after 10pm" paid service. And that runs as late as 3am. And yes, they have blankets and pillows on the floor when the little ones start to get tired.
cb at sea Posted November 5, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2012 Yeah..they will give him time to calm down and get acclimated...no worries! Most folks LOVE RCI;s kid's club...parents AND kids! All of you will have a great time, I'm sure!
o0KelviN0o Posted November 5, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 5, 2012 how about a 16 month old kid? is he gonna love it in there?
gerif Posted November 5, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2012 how about a 16 month old kid? is he gonna love it in there? Nope. That's because Explorer does not have a nursery for children under three years of age and not fully potty trained. There is a mommy and me type group that meets for an hour each morning. Volunton Posted November 7, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2012 We took our (then) three-year-old twins (boy and girl) on the Allure of the Seas in November 2011. For about a month or more, we spent a LOT of time talking about the ship and the kids club and showing them pictures of it. By the time we got on the ship and toured it, they were very excited. They could not wait to go every day. As a result, we even had one night to do a specialty restaurant (was great!). We are doing the FOTS on Dec. 9/12 and the kids are (still) excited about doing the kids club and can't wait. They have been told they will be allowed to spend MORE time there this time. (We plan on doing one or two specialty restaurants). You are given a pager on the day you sign your kids up. We even went to St. Maarten without the kids. This time, we may do a tour without them but it all depends on how they/we feel once we're on the ship. So, start showing your kids pictures and get them pumped up with excitement! :)
