How often/when does the Tampa port fog up ?

We are on the CCL legend on Febuary 3rd 2013. How ofeten does Tamap port fog up and close down? I know you can't predict the weather but does it fog up only certain times of the year ?? Just curious !!!

From what I remember anytime depending on the weather between November and February.

 

This morning was crazy thick fog, reaching pretty far inland too!

It's very foggy here in Tampa right now too. Hopefully the Legend will be able to depart tonight.

It is mainly Fall and Winter when the air temp and Gulf temp are cooler.

 

We were on the Legend 2 years ago in January. The last night of the cruise, the ship sounded the fog horn all night.

 

The channel is quite narrow, especially under the bridge.

Usually just a problem in the winter from the times I remember, though it can happen earlier like now.. going into the winter months. Nov is winter in some parts of the country.

When the dewpoint gets within 5 degrees (Celsius) of the outside air temperature, you have a pretty good chance of foggy conditions. The dewpoint is the temperature where the air will become saturated.

We left Tampa on 1/29 for our last cruise in Jan. and the weather was a clear as a bell on the day we left and the day we returned. You can get foggy weather anywhere around water if the conditions are right.
