Dropping off bags at the port - New Orleans

Does anyone know if we can drop our bags with the porters (Julia st. Terminal) and then head back out to explore the city a bit? We are sailing today and going to be walking over there for beignets shortly and would love to hand off at least some of the bags. Last minute, I know, but any advice is appreciated!

You should be able to, we have done it as early as 9:00 before.
