CharliesMommy Posted November 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2012 We had a great first cruise on the NCL Sky. The weather was great in all of the ports. The only strange thing was the really rocky shelf exposed by the low tide on GSC. We took an early tender and were in the water around 10am. By 11am, the water had receded and you could hardly take ten steps without stubbing your toes on rocks. We had an oceanview room and were pleasantly surprised by the size and tidiness of the room and bathroom. Our room steward was really on the ball. The food had its ups and downs. Favorites in the main dining room included key lime pie, salmon with lemon caper sauce, chocolate mousse, and rosemary chicken. Breakfast was always good, with a wide variety and fresh omelets and waffles. Dinner at Le Bistro was excellent--make sure to get the escargots and the rack of lamb or filet mignon. The best beach day for us was at the Grand Lucayan in Freeport. For $10, you got a day pass that gave you full access to the pools (we had one all to ourselves), the restrooms/changing rooms, and beach loungers. Nassau was a bit of a zoo, but if you're willing to walk, Junkanoo Beach and Fish Fry are both less than a mile from the port. All in all, a great vacation!

The Rosemary chicken on Sky in the MDR is one of the best meals I ever got in a MDR on a cruise!

I'm actually worried...reading horrible reviews but we're going with an open mind and willing to make the best of whatever is. Don't be worried. I was on the Sky last week and had a great time. It was my first ever cruise and I, too, was worried after reading a few bad reviews, but was most pleasantly surprised. I didn't have any other cruises to compare it to, but I still think it was great.
