Bunkie103 Posted November 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Just returned from the 2 day cruise over Thanksgiving on the Breeze. The ship is fantastic, the colors are lovely and tasteful, very calming. The layout is nice, the Buffet is very sharp looking with lots of stations. Loved Guys Burgers so much we had lunch there both days, the fries were fantastic. We had a beer at the Red Frog Pub and really enjoyed it too. We did however notice a certain lack of interest by the staff for these two days. I am going to assume they do not get many extra tips on such a short cruise, so they did nothing more than they were required. With a Valor cruise and the excellent service fresh in our memory, this was disappointing. The room was cleaned, but no introduction from the steward, the fridge in the room was never unlocked ( and no I didn't bother to ask ). It was just noticable along with the slow service in the DR. We had Your Time Dining in the Sapphire Dining Room and found the food to be lukewarm but nothing was hot. Again, the dining room staff did their job, nothing more. Ouch  that's not a good report for the Dreams sister. What did they charge for Red frog beer ? What did you find different on the Breeze than other Carnival ships ? Not asking about the food ,the ship . Welcome home !

LizaMM Posted November 25, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Thanks for your review. It will be interesting to hear how reports of service are going forward. You may be right about the 2 day thing.
Rare lattegirl10 Posted November 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Wow, just got off today too, and noticed the same lack of enthusiasm from staff. The staff just did the bare minimum. However, here my thoughts: Guys burgers were Excellent. Best burgers I've tasted. Decor was nice Shower and beds were great. The Latin, Divas, and Motown shows were awesome and lively Casino paid out a little more than expected. The casino vault was popular in the casino and arcade. (my son won the new iPod touch). The red frog pub IMHO had the best drinks, and outdoor area. The ropes course is harder than it looks The slide was fun Cape carnival was fun and had a lot of activities - according to my 9 yr old The food in the dining room was good The pizza was great
MickCruiser Posted November 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Different line/ship (NCL/Pearl)....we had something similar. Pearl made its way from West Coast to SFLA via Panama Canal and did a two-day trip to Nassau when it first got to MIA. Same sort of experience....no intro from cabin steward and somewhat laid back crew. Hey, not everyone can be on their A Game each day. Besides, noticed a FB posting from Butch the CD on Breeze now. He posted the night before arriving in Miami that they crew had a long couple of days in store, starting off with a TSA/Customs inspection for all crew members....from 4am to 6am. Followed by a full day of fanfare in Wed and the two nighter starting on Thur. That would be me in a somewhat of a ho-hum mood. :-)

SNJCruisers Posted November 25, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 25, 2012 What did they charge for Red frog beer ? It's 5.50 for a 20 oz draft and an additional 4.00 for the souvenir glass. A 60 oz pitcher is 15.75 and a 101 oz tube is 25.75. All will incur the extra 15% tip.
MrPete Posted November 25, 2012 #10 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Wow, just got off today too, and noticed the same lack of enthusiasm from staff. The staff just did the bare minimum. That's sad to read. Was the existing crew swapped out with a new group, or is this just the crew that's been there and should have performed better, 2 day or not? ahoys Posted November 25, 2012 #15 Share Posted November 25, 2012 We were also on the Thanksgiving cruise. I did not find a lack of enthusiasm at all from the staff. Our cabin steward was terribly busy, and we did not get any towel animals--but I wasn't unhappy about that. We also got chocolates only the first day--but again, I had plenty of sweets. However, he was very, very nice and I enjoyed his cheerful greeting as we entered or left the cabin. The dining room staff was wonderful and the waiters on the Lido deck were pleasant and helpful. I was at the station to add cream and sugars to our two coffees and a waiter took those hot mugs to our table for me. That was very nice. Our dining room asst. waiter stopped by as we ate on the Lido deck and talked with us. We ate in the Blush dining room at the 6:00 seating and had three waiters who were extremely attentive and very, very nice. Everywhere we went we found staff smiling and greeting us. I liked that. I was surprised that even though the ship was full, I didn't feel that it was claustrophobic. Lines were not worse than any of the other ships I've sailed on. The only problem we saw (and this is true of all of our recent cruises) was the number of rude and pushy passengers. Luckily, most people were friendly and happy--it's just the inconsiderate ones that become an irritation.
JaniceB Posted November 25, 2012 #16 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Glad to hear you didn't find the lines on the ship worse than other cruises.
Bunkie103 Posted November 25, 2012 Author #17 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Lines were no worse than other ships and in some cases even better. We also noticed rude, pushy passengers. The ropes course looks cool, my DH and DS were enjoying the outside pool table too. The Waterworks was a huge hit with the 5 year old. I did read that there were 200 or so new crew members coming aboard the day before we boarded. When we finished dinner the second night the line was out into the lobby for YTD and they had people standing alongside tables while they bussed them....that's something I have never seen before. DH commented on the walkways on the Lido in the restaurant and thought they were a bit narrow also, but that may just have been a matter of perception. As I said the ship is gorgeous but it just felt like they needed to get their act together.
JaniceB Posted November 26, 2012 #18 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Sounds like they overbooked YTD.
cruiseclues Posted November 26, 2012 #19 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Were Guy's Burgers Juicy? Reports say you can't get one any other way than well done. How was yours done? This is the first time I asked this question. I guess if mine was still hot, it might taste okay anyway. :)
Rare lattegirl10 Posted November 26, 2012 #20 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Yes, the burgers are juicy. I saw kids and adults request burgers that were done or medium rare and they were accomodated. I even saw a kid tell them that he doesn't eat sesame seeds on his bun and they gave him a seedless bun, with no hesitation. The line was never to long at Guys. Wish I had another now.:p

This is the first time I asked this question. I guess if mine was still hot, it might taste okay anyway. :) I was on the Trans-Atlantic, and asked one day for a burger Medium. It took them about 5 minutes but they handed me one cooked exactly the way I wanted. You just need to ask and they will make sure you get what you want. The people working at Guy's were very accommodating.:D
