navybaby1113 Posted January 1, 2013 #26 Share Posted January 1, 2013 Although I'm a chocoholic, my favorite items there are the sugared almonds and walnuts, the orange peel, and the puff pastry swan with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Yum! I also only like the chocolate cake from the cafe. I think it lasted me two days though last time. The piece was so big. April can't get here fast enough! Yes! The candied orange peel is delicious!

Chigirlcruzin Posted January 2, 2013 #28 Share Posted January 2, 2013 What is the Chocolate Extravaganza? I've seen pictures in some reviews, but it's not clear what exactly it is. As a chocoholic.. I NEED to know this. ;) Thanks. As a fellow chocoholic, I never go to this any more. I guess you could call me a chocolate snob; I won't waste calories on mediocre chocolate. The chocolate is not great. Save your calories for a final helping of the warm chocolate melting cake at dinner that evening.
cruiserfirsttime Posted April 15, 2018 #29 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Do they still have chocolate extravagance on carnival magic? My girl and hubby LOVE chocolate, we are going on 7 day cruise July
grandmarnnurse Posted April 15, 2018 #30 Share Posted April 15, 2018 It is a chocolate buffet the last sea day. DW and I primarily like milk chocolate but almost everything is bitter sweet so not our favorite. Now if they had one of pies that would be awesome. Omg! I never heard of this! I’m sailing the Breeze in 2019 and Magic 2020. Please tell me all about this! I am a huge chocoholic!! Sent from my iPad using Forums

After a few cruises we basically decided not worth the calories
Lottacruises Posted April 15, 2018 #32 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Unless of course you're lucky enough to find the elusive chocolate peanut butter pie
pvtpyle Posted April 15, 2018 #33 Share Posted April 15, 2018 I was on the Conquest a few weeks ago. The Chocolate Extravaganza was only on the dessert island in the very back lido for us. Usted to be alot bigger. Big let down
Towel Critter Posted April 15, 2018 #34 Share Posted April 15, 2018 My favorite things on the chocolate "extravaganza" are the apple jello cubes. Seriously. Those things rock. I'm not so keen on the chocolate fountain. Chocolate fountains have always seemed unsanitary to me. I mean, the chocolate circulates through the air continuously, picking up sneezes, dust motes, whatever is in the air. I'm not a germaphobe by any stretch of the imagination, but they seem questionable to me, whether on a ship or elsewhere. But that's just me. I know a lot of folks enjoy them and that's fine. To each his/her own.

dsotm73 Posted April 15, 2018 #36 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Add me to the list of the disappointed. Like many of the desserts on Lido, the items on the Choc-buffet looked a lot better than they tasted.
Bookworm1985 Posted April 16, 2018 #37 Share Posted April 16, 2018 I have found that often times it looks better then it tastes. Not bad, just disappointing because it looks so epic. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Sgàile Posted April 16, 2018 #38 Share Posted April 16, 2018 They had a chocolate fountain and chocolate sushi on I think the last day. Pretty nice. I enjoyed the candied orange peels dipped in chocolate and the rum balls, oh my gosh I had three or four of the latter.

siestakeys04 Posted April 16, 2018 #40 Share Posted April 16, 2018 I do like candied almonds and chocolate wontons. Room service chocolate cake delicious. I don’t know the price of it after 10 pm.
watermelonqueen99 Posted April 16, 2018 #41 Share Posted April 16, 2018 Don't bother. It all looks beautiful but none of it has any flavor. Walk through Lido when it's going on, and you'll see piles of plates with unfinished food.

13cheermom Posted April 16, 2018 #43 Share Posted April 16, 2018 Well let me go against the grain here, and suggest to try the buffet if you never have before. It's kind of interesting to figure out what some of the items are. I usually get one plate of various items for husband and I to take a bite of and share to avoid waste. Seems that some people do enjoy it based on the long lines, lol.

People should certainly try it but many people seem to feel not worth the calories, they have many other desserts that are much better
