Everything ROYAL PRINCESS: What are you looking forward to MOST of all?

THANKS! Figured it might be a fun way for people to remember where all these new things are! It's Fiesta (deck) time: pizza and a Bellini! :D

Bellinis are my drink of choice for afternoon trivia -- everyone knows that champagne stimulates the brain! After you try a traditional one, look for the Citrus Bellini. The Adagio bars on the big girls have it, so hopefully your new ship's Bellini bar will, too. It's heavenly good: citrus flavours in place of the peach. It's much crisper and more tart than a traditional Bellini. Drooling just thinking about it . . .

Hi All

The palace has said Princess Katie is due to be a mummy in July,

which could mean she would be free to do the god mother thing, in June,

wonder how long before Princess will tell us, or will they keep it secret

as long as they can.

yours Shogun

Doubtful at 8 mos pregnant that she'd do any traveling so I think they'll have to be looking at a Plan B godmother.

Alfredo's -

Can you smell it? Incredible aromas from fresh baked pizza? Now with an expanded menu and more spacious seating area, Alfredo's will temp you with fresh toppings and crisp crust pizzas baked fresh in our stone oven. (Princess Cruises)

And from Beyond Ships this:

"Alfredo’s honors Princess Cruises’ master chef Alfredo Marzi. Chef Marzi has been with Princess for over 40 years and is highly regarded by his colleagues. The pizzeria’s connection to Chef Marzi is not limited to its name. It also utilizes recipes the chef has developed from traditional Italian recipes.

Alfredo's debuted on Grand Princess in May 2011 following an extensive refit that transformed the public areas of the ship. It has been so successful on Grand Princess that an Alfredo’s Pizzeria recently has been added to Sapphire Princess.

Guests arriving at the restaurant entrance are asked to wait to be seated, then once at the table offered up a menu with the different selections available. Alfredo’s pizzas are individual size pizzas, thus there is no need to confer with your tablemates over what type of pizza to order. Each guest is able to select the type of pizza he or she wants. Each pizza is made to order, consequently, it arrives at the table fresh from the oven, which greatly increases the flavor."

(Richard H. Wagner, Beyond Ships)

Viewed from Bellini's, Alfredo's occupies the entire starboard side of the atrium on Feista Deck

Having lived in Naples, Italy for two years (and traveled quite a bit from Sorrento to Venice) I absolutely LOVE good pizza, so of course I plan on eating here several times for lunch and dinner. It will be interesting so see how popular this restaurant becomes!

Also on the Fiesta Deck, occupying the entire port side...

You're doing a great job keeping it very interesting, keep up the great work!:D

It's a labor of love.... :D

Awesome thread. Sailing with several other couples 11/17/13. Looking more forward to the ship then the itinerary!!

Same here. I basically did this itinerary last month on Ruby Princess, so now I can relax more and enjoy the ship a bit more. I still want to go over to Maho Beach and watch the planes landing in Saint Martin!

Hey Dave, as others have stated, thanks for starting this thread.

It's a shame that we are going to miss you on the Caribbean Inaugural in October, but we wish you a good time in December.

I think the thing that we are most looking forward to, is to (hopefully,) be able to do the Chef's Table. It was a memorable experience on the other ships, but I think it will be an absolutely unbelievable time while being surrounded by the "Curtain of Light" during the whole meal.

Thanks again,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Yes it would have been interesting to see all of you in your Halloween costumes!;) As far as the Chef's Table, I do imagine it will book up for the entire week just on the first day. Better get those reservations in asap!

Bellinis are my drink of choice for afternoon trivia -- everyone knows that champagne stimulates the brain!...

If that's the case I'll need two or three of them! ;)

Doubtful at 8 mos pregnant that she'd do any traveling so I think they'll have to be looking at a Plan B godmother.

I'm inclined to agree. I'm sure the palace may want her off her feet as much as possible and not too far from Buckingham just in case...

Sunny NC :) is correct. It was 78 in New Bern today! What great January weather.

Our high temps this weekend in north-central West Virginia hit 70 degrees. The weather was nice and there were long lines at the car wash. Tonight we had snow and freezing rain, the roads covered in rock salt. Can't win for losing. ;)

Great new Thread! Keep it coming! Can't wait until October. It's been 7 years since I have been on a Princess Ship so this will be awesome. We booked this cruise the 1st day we were notified by Princess. I think I have read more about this Ship than the cruise I'm going on this April.

My thanks for starting such a great thread. Love all the photos and information provided. I can tell you have put a lot of time and heart into doing this - most appreciated.

I am looking forward to the TA maiden passage. Can't wait for the smell of the new ship, going out on that sky walk and the Piazza. Love the idea they have created the Bellini's on deck 6 overlooking entertainment below. That has always been a problem with Atrium entertainment - not enough seating. Just off the Sapphire and loved Alfredos.

Wonder if I will ever be able to get a seat at the sky bar??? Probably not.

What aspect am I looking forward to most? The new stateroom category "Deluxe Balcony". Looks like it will be something between a balcony stateroom and a mini-suite. Have booked one on the Grand Med in Sept. and it is adjacent to my BIL/SIL's cabin, so we are having the divider on the balcony removed so we can socialize.

Other than that, I can't wait to explore all the nooks and crannies and see how the Royal compares to the Diamond (my only other Princess experience).

This is a fun thread. Thanks for starting it and for the rest of you for contributing.

Dmwnc1959....you are a rock star!! :D

This is the first thing I look at over coffee in the morning!!

Sunsetbeachgal: Are you closer to Carolina or Myrtle?

To Everyone: I am excited about the idea of being on a NEW ship. It will be our first time on a new ship so there will be some kinks to work out, but we are such happy cruisers ... we will go with the flow and enjoy being with old friends and meeting lots of new.

Looking forward to dining in the curtain of light, the skywalk, the entire layout of atrium, and the afternoon cocktail socials ... having my fav "Chairman of the Board" martini that I only have when cruising. LOTS to look forward to next September and October.

Franky, by the time we board at the end of September, there will already be many months for those "kinks" to have disappeared.

Am hoping that the bartenders on the Royal will know how to make a Toasted Almond Martini, as the ones on the Diamond did. The woman of the couple we traveled to Alaska with fell in love with them, and her description has made me want to try one.

What is in the "Chairman of the Board"? May be another to try? Adding more things to look forward to with these. :)

Big "Yum" Jim! I'm mostly wine but when cruisng ... I have a tini here and there.

Where you been hiding?:)

I'm here just lurking, but -----

Work, collage kids coming and going ( 2 in and 2 graduated and employed), snow skiing, golf, growing and making wine is not all romance( pulling the cork is) and have a spring cruise booked with all the kids.

Don't worry a Martini is fun but wine consumption in our main squeeze

Alas until our deluxe aft balcony was one of the 14 removed in the recent reconfiguration. But I'm sure our minisuite upgrade will be pretty nice too!

Before moving up to the next deck I wanted to also mention two other venues on the Fiesta Deck (remember; 'eat, drink, and by pictures!' ;)) that are just off the atrium and forward: the Casino and Club 6 (even more like a Fiesta now!). Both venues will be covered later in this virtual tour of Royal Princess. If you are a cigar aficionado, Churchill's cigar lounge is also located on Fiesta Deck just forward of the casino on the port side.

As we move up the spectacular views of the atrium continue on Deck 7, the Promenade Deck home to numerous venues including:

- Facets (glass figurines, Swarovski crystals, watches, and jewelry)

- Meridian Bay (more jewelry, handbags)

- Captain's Circle desk

- Future Cruise Center (sales)

- Crooners (piano bar and lounge)

- Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar (more about this soon...)

And just forward of the atrium on Promenade deck you'll also find:

- Essence (fragrances and beauty)

- Princess Art Gallery (a collection of art for sale)

- Calypso Cove ( liquor at duty-free prices (purchases collected at final disembarkation), binoculars, snorkel gear, Princess-branded merchandise, sunglasses, T-shirts and informal clothing, handbags, and basic drug store sundries including sun block, and pain and cold remedies)

Here is the layout for Promenade Deck (Deck 7) showing all of the these venues in relationship to each other as well as others we have covered in the last several days...

Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar -

For our seafood lovers this new bar features pearls of the ocean fresh from the sea including sushi, sashimi, ceviche, and caviar. (Princess Cruises)

Looking towards the port side across the new seafood bar

8386027740_f38662b3c6_z.jpg

Now, I have never heard of 'ceviche' (sort of like I had never heard of a Bellini) so another quick stop by my friend the internet reveals this:

"Ceviche (pronounced seh-vee-chay) is a seafood dish popular in the coastal regions of the Americas, especially Central and South America. The dish is typically made from fresh raw fish marinated in citrus juices, such as lemon or lime, and spiced with ají or chili peppers. Additional seasonings, such as chopped onions, salt, and coriander, may also be added. Ceviche is usually accompanied by side dishes that complement its flavors, such as sweet potato, lettuce, corn, avocado or plantain. As the dish is not cooked with heat, it must be prepared fresh.

(wikipedia)

Now I love me some good sushi. :D Mmmm. This 'ceviche' may be another one of things I'll just have to try to see if I like it.

Well, you certainly waited for the perfect moment to return to Princess Cruises!!! :D

Think positive: plenty of seats for everyone! I'm just sure there won't be any chair hogs around... ;)

Even more fun for me. I get to learn the ship and help others explore this amazing new flagship as well. Get everyone pumped up! :D

By time I get on in December all the lounge furniture and stateroom bedding will be fully broken in, and the staff will all be in their set routines. Hope to see some of the familiar staff faces from Ruby Princess on her as well. Love Giorgi Hadzi at Explorers Lounge bar and Daniel Moore at International Cafe coffee counter. The best of the best.
