We have 54 VIFP on carnivals website and it says we need 21 more points to get to platinum however there's a yellow banner saying we need only 2 more cruises to advance to platinum. Which is it?. Anyone please clarify. Cause it appears to me we need to take at least 2 7-day cruises or am able to get into the platinum club another way. Thank you!

Looks like you have 8 Carnival Cruises under your belt.

If you complete 2 more sailings before 12/31/13 then you will become platinum. Unless of course you earn your 21 points before that.

Where do you see that banner?

I currently have 7 cruises total but I don't see a banner advising me I only need 3 more cruises.

The grandfathering for the old platinum system was limited to those that only had 2 or less cruise to reach their 10. For those of us that needed more I was just told by my PVP that if I did my 4 more before the end of Dec I could contact the VIFP coordinator to request that I be up graded to the Platinum status.

That's what I was planning on doing taking 2 5/6 day cruises but the points system threw me off and I don't want to take them if carnival is going by points cause ill never make it (21points) by 12/13.

If you can get those 2 cruises completed prior to Dec 31st, 2013 they will automatically credit you w/ Platinum status as if they were still doing the old system. No need to worry about the 21 days, they will just be added to the number of days till you reach Diamond status.

You may not receive your Platinum S&S at the dock check-in but the loyalty coordinated should be able to rectify the situation, make him/her your first stop after arriving for the start of your tenth cruise. Bring any documents like a print out of your VIFP profile page to support the proof this is the 10th time you boarded a Carnival ship. If you're doing a B2B talked to Guest Services before the end of the first leg to make sure you are all set up to start the second leg as a Platinum.

You will only see that banner if you are 2 or less away. Its to try to intoce you to get those 2 this year. But by all means of you do take 3 you will be there as well

Where do you see that? (That it only applies to those with 2 or more?)

We need 3, are sailing next week and doing a B2B in October.

Will we have a hassle making plat?

you need 10 finished cruises before the end of 2013.

According to your past sailings that will give you 8.

Carnival explained it in the VIFP direct mailer they sent out last June when the program changed.

Depending on what you consider a hassle, maybe. Because when they changed the requirements from # of cruises to # of days at sea they changed the computer program that handles your cruise docs as well. If you are booked and will finish your tenth cruise by Dec 31,2013 your cruise docs might not have you listed as Platinum automatically for that 10th cruise. You will have to seek out a Platinum coordinated, with proof this your 10th cruise (a print out of your VIFP profile page and current cruise docs should do), prior to going through the check in process to escort you through the line. Once that's done there is the chance that on board you will have to talk to guest services to make sure you get the rest of your premiums. This is where having a PVP to handle all the little bumps comes in handy.

I also had the yellow banner under the profile as well. It said sail two more times before the end of the year to get Platinum. I already have a sailing coming up next month and will plan another one before Dec.

I live on the west coast and there are not much options in itineraries. Haven't cruised Carnival in two years, so I hope its as fun as I remember.
