I CARE! and I started this thread because I care.. I like the shows and games.. Im not a drinker or spend time in the casino... So I Care who the CD is because Ive had some awesome CD and one just okay...

I personally dont book a cruise for any staff or crew

To me it isnt the most important thing but to you and some others it is.

I didnt know people booked cruises that way Thats why I asked WHY??????

The things I learn on CC:D

BTW

I dont know if this is the same but one of the reasons I agreed to do the EPIC again was to see the Slam Allen Band again

I found out last week he is going to be on the Breakaway Well m not going to book the Breakaway just for him

On our first cruise Jon Ibrahim was the CD and he was really great! On our last 2 cruises, the ACD have really been the stars - Gio & Richard. Would love to cruise with them again - hopefully they have been promoted or moved on to bigger and better things!

We do a lot of the CD activities, so we enjoy a good cruise staff. Obviously they won't make or break the cruise but they certainly make things fun!

Yes both Richard and Gio are CD's now :)

We also do lots of CD activities and have made many friends with various crew members whom we keep in contact with. I agree with Suzanne, they are like extended family and I absolutely sail on ships that I know they will be on. On the other hand I also have a CD I will never sail with again, so yes, it does matter to me as well.

I would like to know where folks are too. I was definitely disappointed that my favorite CD was not on the Epic when we sailed this time. I never really cared about the CD before bit the difference in programming, quality of activities and overall atmosphere was very noticeable.

I remember the best CDs - Simon (from Australia) on the Pearl in 2008. We loved him! And Richard Spacey on Freedom was just a lot of fun.

And the rest of the activities crew does follow the CD's lead.

Oh, and I guess the OP cares. Why in the world would someone post on here saying "Who cares?". unless of course they just need an ego boost by having others see their post or something. SMH

WHY?????

How does the CD control the weather or the ports Im going to????.

Thats all that really matters on a cruise doesnt it????

Different strokes.

Guess what? My mom does not cruise for the ports. Doesn't care if she even sees land!

So, see?

I'm on the Epic in a few weeks, anyone know if Ken Mills is a good/fun CD? that's the one thing I haven't read about on these boards in the last few weeks.

His wife and year old daughter were visiting him on our cruise. Beautiful little girl that Pedro always had in his arms after shows. It was nice to see that side of him also.

Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk 2

I love that! Actually Pedro was our CD on Sun AND Dawn. Nice guy.

Thanks for the update.

But If i knew which CD was gonna be on what ship I might pick a different week .. My favorite CD is the retired Matt Baker If he was still a CD and I knew he would be on the DAWN first 2 weeks of march and not the rest i may of booked the first 2 weeks rather than march 17th... Just saying a great CD makes a great cruise even better

The key to being a successful CD is keeping people informed and keeping the activities moving along. They should focus on the passengers and never make it about themselves. Consistency in their performance is also important.

We just returned from a 7-day W. Caribbean cruise aboard the NCL Star (Feb 10-17, 2013). Kyle Dodson was the cruise director and I had already thought about what a great job he did even before seeing this thread.

I had no personal interaction with Kyle but I felt that he did an outstanding job in all respects. From the CC Meet & Great to the PA announcements to acting as MC at the shows and the evening fun & games his work was top notch.

He seemed to be everywhere and was in top form each time we saw him. That's tough for anyone but especially in a job where you are responsible for overseeing the enjoyment of 2,000-3,000 new people each week.

I'm pretty sure Sinan Ulucay is CD on the GEM. I'm hoping he'll still be there when I sail in November. He was "Bingo Boy" on the first cruise I every went on on the DAWN. He was fan-frigging-tastic then, so I'm sure he'll be a very entertaining CD.

I can't remember the name of the CD on that DAWN sailing - but he did have a great Aussie accent and the most amazing abs......

.........sorry, I just had a little moment.....lol

I don't know if I am in the minority or not, but I really don't care who the CD is, or let's put it this way, the CD does not make of break our cruise experience. If she/he is really good we love it, if they are not, we don't really care. We did have Julie on the Pearl this past week, she is fantastic, on our last Pearl cruise we had Andy..He wasn't so great, but it didn't affect our cruise at all and on the Spirit I couldn't even tell you who the CD was. In fact, I bet we only can remember about 4 or 5 of them in 25 plus cruises.

I am in total agreement here.

Returned from Western Caribbean on NCL Dawn on February 17, 2013. Gio was the new CD on there. I heard it was his first week on that ship. He had been cruising out of Europe. In the 13 years that I have been cruising he is by far the best CD I have ever had on a ship. Very active with the passengers and involved with the activities..:) The crew on the Dawn surpassed many of the past cruises that I have been on.

I've heard good things about him but looks like he might be off the Gem before my 6/15 cruise.

Schedules are always subject to change and people's contracts can and do get extended, so he might still be there for your cruise. If you have not met him yet, he is a very very funny man and very very much a gentleman.

With all the shifting of staff coming with The Breakaway coming on line and staff planning for The Getaway later this year, almost anyone's schedules could be subject to change.
