rongo31 Posted January 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2013 Can't find any update anywhere on the 1/19 Fascination cruise since they left Jax in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Should have been in Freeport yesterday (1/21) and I'd think there would have been lots of CC activity commenting on their "unique" departure experience. Too p.o'd to post? Having too much fun to post? Hmmmmm...

rongo31 Posted January 23, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted January 23, 2013 She got out of dry dock lol she's on her first cruise back now Um, that's the point... 1st cruise after dry-dock left Jax around 3 a.m. Sunday morning and there have been ZERO updates from those on board since then. rongo31 Posted January 23, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted January 23, 2013 I didn't expect to hear anything until tomorrow at the earliest. Yes, tomorrow (1/24) is when FS returns to Jax... but posts from on board and/or in port are so common on CC that I guessed that this group of pax would be anxious to report on their embarkation experience and the changes to the ship. So far... nada
Wynton67 Posted January 24, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2013 We are right here waiting to get off the ship. It's been an interesting cruise. Had some great crew members taking care of us and some other disappointments as well, but those may just be my fault for assuming. The only upgrade we noticed was the backdrop for punch liner. I thought that it would be receiving blue iguana / red frog bars, guys burgers and the hasbro game show to name a few. We saw none of this. I spoke to a couple of crew members who told us that they weren't able to do these as they didnt have enough time during dry dock. Overall i got to turn off my cell and not work, which was a big reason for this cruise so we were ok, but still disapointing. We would have booked another ship otherwise. Full review to come later... Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 24, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2013 Wow didnt get the upgrades, I gather they were very busy giving her new carpets and paint that sure is alot in itself to do in just three weeks. I not mind not having the upgrades an extra bar or two and on top of it outside the ship really not my thing. I much rather be inside ac. Guys burgers well I just think they unhealthy but Im sure so many people going to be disappointed when they hear these things hasen't happened. I would love to hear as to what types of foods were offered in the buffet and dinner. I can't have gluten so I only eat meat carvings, hot meat entirees such as chicken, pork, beef etc. , vegetables and potatoes. The last time on the fascination they only had burgers, hot dogs, fries, chicken nuggets only one veggie, a very small salad bar, sandwiches I have to say 90% gluten and they didn't have any meat carving back then either or soups. I came off the Dream this past September and I honestly can say that the Dream was on par and in a couple of areas exceeded Royal Caribbean, so I like to hear as to the types of foods offered mostly in the buffet and also dinner. I truely appreciate it. Also, what types of shows are showing now on board? Im sorry you all that got off the Fascination lost a full day but I been crusing since a little girl been on 49 cruises so far (almost 50 lol) and I can say most ships that come from dry dock generally do have delays although yours was very long. The ship did not get the two bars? I don't believe it was scheduled to get Guy's Burgers.
Wynton67 Posted January 24, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 24, 2013 It did not. Crew said only mechanical upgrades and new carpeting.
KroozFoolz Posted January 24, 2013 #11 Share Posted January 24, 2013 I am interested in knowing if the Punchliner comedy brunch was "installed." Was breakfast available in the main dining room on sea days or was it the brunch? What were the production shows - Hey Mambo and Far From Over (the old ones) or Divas and Motor City (the new ones)? MissMeggieMurphy Posted January 24, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 24, 2013 to those who booked and sailed. were the things the dry dock didn't get to advertised as being on your sailing or were they more about people believing that all of the carnival upgrades would be installed? just curious. Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 24, 2013 #13 Share Posted January 24, 2013 I have not seen anything that stated from Carnival that she get the extras, just regular maintence. I curious whether she got Punchliners nightly comedy and breakfast? I just happy that she got new carpeting that in itself is a big plus to me. I hoping to hear from passengers regarding the foods offered in the buffet for lunch and I would this cruise consider eating dinner there also if you people feel its worth it. Angela61280 Posted January 24, 2013 #14 Share Posted January 24, 2013 The only thing was the sign on the back of the comedy club that said punchliners... Other than that.. She was missing the 2 bars on lido.the food in general... Blah. - I'll review the cruise later on after laundry and naps all around :)

Interesting since from the CCL Staff Fascination was suppose to get 2.0. There was plenty of time for the dry dock so saying not enough time is bogus since the other ships that have gotten 2.0 were all done in the same time frame. http://www.carnival.com/Funville/forums/t/255984.aspx Carnival Fascination Dry-dock: 1/05/13-1/19/13 To be implemented by end of dry-dock, 2013 BlueIguana Tequila Bar RedFrog Rum Bar The Taste Bar Punchliners Comedy Club & Brunch presented by George Lopez Playlist Productions Hasbro, The Game Show DJ IRIE
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 24, 2013 #16 Share Posted January 24, 2013 Angela thank you really looking forward to what you have to say. I do realize the food on her will be bla as you say....the Dream honestly blew us away but realize these short cruises we get what we pay for. Rest up and looking forward to hearing your review and thank you.
kingoftheicedragons Posted January 25, 2013 #17 Share Posted January 25, 2013 I'll be on the ship in a matter of days so I'll be able to verify whether the additions promoted by Carnival were actually carried out or not. There definitely was enough time for the upgrades promised, since she was there for the full two weeks. Guy's Burgers was never in the plans, and I would think the changes to the bars would be fairly minor...again, they are just bars, not the Blue Iguana Cantina or the Red Frog Pub, just the basic bar versions. anamanxs Posted January 27, 2013 #21 Share Posted January 27, 2013 I hope they changed the carpet in the theater and casino had some of the oldest machines around. I couldn't even enter the theater due to allergies in Oct. I booked next week only b/c she was supposed to be cleaned in dry dock.
pezhead Posted January 27, 2013 #22 Share Posted January 27, 2013 I'm aiming to get my trip report up in the next day or so. But the 2.0 wasn't all there at all. Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
TrinaLC Posted January 27, 2013 #23 Share Posted January 27, 2013 Doesn't bode well for Fantasy going into Drydock today. Listed as cosmetic/maintenance, but everyone has been hoping for more 2.0. My money is now on "no".
