Looks like an IC is coming for the Coral

This August will be my first cruise on Princess and on the Coral to Alaska. After reading the posts on here, I was wishing Coral had one and now it looks like I'll get to experience it.

High Heel Girl, how do you get the Princess CC newsletter?

Another publication is the Captain's Circle Quarterly, which you should start getting sometime after your first cruise.

Thanks for posting. We love the IC and the Coral/Island are our favorite Princess ships, so it will be nice to finally have it onboard them.

Still trying to imagine how they're going to fit the new cabins in and reconfigure the casino. Should be very interesting to see when they're done.

I wonder if Facets will be moved and combined with one of the other shops. That would make a lot of new room in the Casino area.

It is interesting that Princess waited until the Coral was halfway through her drydock to make a formal announcement about her changes. Maybe they wanted to know that it was going to work ;)

I'm trying to find where High Heel Girl found this announcement. It isn't on their website and I've Googled my fingers off and I can't find it. I'm not doubting it, just want to go there to find any other information on the ship. :D

I guess now that I bought a coffee card for my August cruise, I know where I'll be getting my nice coffee drinks. :p

Seems very weird to me that they would put a bunch of staterooms on Fiesta. This deck is all public spaces and if you look at the deck plan, they would lose most of the casino by doing that. Changing the bar over to an IC also probably involves adding or evolving the existing bar galley in that space, further encroaching on the Casino. Looking at the deck plans, though, other than encroaching into the kids area, or quite a large area in the aft on Plaza (not sure what that is - could be they're changing crew staterooms in that area over to revenue staterooms. I don't think they will touch the card room or library as they seem intrinsic to the design and flow of the atrium.

Like Pam, I'm a little disappointed to see them add more passengers to these lovely uncrowded vessels. Clearly, economics at work.

It should be pointed out that we are making one assumption, the IC on the Coral would be the same as on other ships. They could use the concept with a smaller or different offering.

And one would think this would free up La Patisserie for another use?

There is almost no space used in La Patisserie for the breakfast pastries and midday finger sandwiches offered there and the espresso machine is in the back and hard to access now. At our M&G on the Island this month there was some discussion about a Vines for the Island but they said there hadn't been an official sign off. They already have wine flights at La Patisserie. Maybe there will make the area more like Vines.

It was in the Captains Circle newsletter we received via e-mail last week.

Ahhh, that explains it. :) I'm not part of that since August will be my first Princess sailing. Now I know it's Gospel. Yipeeee.

That's what I was thinking. The current location is so strange, IMO. It's completely separate from the other shops.

Michelle, you're going to have to do a "Live From" or at minimum a review when you return. Have a wonderful trip.

No "live from" on the honeymoon, I'm afraid! Hahaha. We're planning on truly getting away from it all!

I will certainly do a review when we get back, though!

If that information is correct then the cabins would span the entire length of the Casino. That would be a significant reduction in the size of the Casino.

No, from what I understand, the cabins have even and odd numbers, so that would put them on both sides of the ship...

That sounds like a real mess of a traffic flow. They would need to have a separate access corridor for the cabins like there is for the Window Suites and that would need to be on both sides  I can't wait to see pictures and revised deck plans.

Good point, Facets always looked so out of place there anyway. I also can easily see how the rarely-used casino bar could easily be transformed into a small IC. I think we will see a slightly smaller IC along the lines of the ones retrofitted on the older ships.

As for placing cabins by the casino, Princess has placed cabins near public areas on the Star, Golden, and Caribbean, so I'm not too surprised. Not sure why people are upset about this - it's only 13 rooms, practically a drop in the bucket. Such a small increase in passengers couldn't upset the passenger space ratio that greatly.

The Island and Coral Princess are our favorites. They are sister ship and except for the new upgrades now being done on the Coral are identically played out. We will be on the Island again in June. (fourth time)
