Remember things like razors meds charges and multi plug multi sub plug in, all walls are magnetic so bring strong magnets to hang up itineraries Dailey plan sheets and ship map. I also bring magnets from my town to leave a note for NW friends and for them to ID my cabin easie. You can also bring clothes line clips to hang your wet stuff to dry in shower on pull out clothes line . A night light for in bathroom makes not stubbing your toe much easier at night as there is a lip into bathroom. Your favourite fabreeze from home may make kids feel more comfy at night. Though you will never see the kids any other time than bed and supper lol they even skip dessert if it's not on time. Order the kids dessert to come with meal. Remember to tell the head of restaurants about allergies and intolerance before cruise same goes if there is a bleach allergy etc so they watch cleaners used in rooms.

Here is my spreadsheet. I have a "summary page" with all the important trip dates, times, confirmation numbers, contact numbers, flight numbers, etc. Second page is a day by day outfit planner (I don't use it as much anymore). Third page is my packing list. I print a copy so I can take it with me and make sure nothing is missing when packing to go back home. Fourth are links that i find about the places I'll be visiting and reviews on ports of call or such so I can look at them again later if needed.

I loved looking at the planning lists and posts when I first started on CC. People shared so much great info, and I used a lot of it when I put these together. Attached are PDFs of my pre-planning and packing lists. I've been using a version of the packing list for years; with two working parents and kids, I always forget something otherwise! The pre-planner I started on the last cruise and just added formulas so it alto-tabulates costs. Yup, I am a little OCD...but putting this together was pretty quick, and it makes life for a chronically scatterbrained person like me soooo much easier. :D

On a side note, the packing list is everything I could even consider packing...I imagine we will trim it down some. But, we also drive to port; although we only have a suitcase and carry-on a piece, we don't need to pack as light since we don't fly. And on the planner, same thing -- this is all the things we MIGHT do...i.e. I have the drink package listed, but we might skip it altogether or just purchase for the last four days. Happy planning! (And happy obsessing...who are we kidding!)

Hi All,

Since there are far too many emails to go through I will post the spreadsheet in hopes that the majority of you have the ability to open Sherri spreadsheet. In the event you re unable to do so then let me know and I will email it to only those who are having issues. Otherwise, please see attachment.

Once you open spreadsheet, just click on the tabs below:

Tab #1 is the oh-so-important PACKING LIST, organized by suitcase and carry ons (mine vs. DH).

The items are color-coded (his are blue, mine are pink) and for items that I still need to purchase before the cruise, I click the "to-buy" column and it sends that item to a separate spreadsheet (tab) called "SHOPPING LIST". Since I tend to lay the open bags in our guest room and begin the packing process over the course of a month before a big cruise, having the list there is helpful. I can check things off as I put them into the bags.

As for the SHOPPING LIST, I have an alert set on my calendar to check my shopping list at 3 months and again at 2 months prior to cruise to begin looking for any items that still need to be purchased. Another tab on my cruise organizer is the ONBOARD TIPS list. This is very helpful when cruising on a large ship with so many options.

The tips list includes all the dining and activity venues as well as whether there are fees involved, if reservations are required, best viewing places for outdoor shows, secret spots, all sorts of CC tips that I gather from lurking in the months leading up to a cruise. My TO DO tab is my reminder to do things like setting dining or show reservations, making payments, booking excursions, prefilling Rx's, notifying bank of international travel, etc. The last tab on my cruise planner is my SCHEDULE. Just prior to leaving, I fill in the blanks on this document and print it out in triplicate (because we always end up changing something after we get on the ship).

It's a glimpse of the entire cruise itinerary. It includes any dinner / show / activity reservations we've made at a glance on one page. It also contains our Hotel, Flight, Travel Insurance, and Transfer information and all emergency phone numbers for TA, cruise line, hotel, etc. Of course, all that is subject to change once we step foot on the ship, but it's good to at least have something to go by. And for me, planning the vacation is half the fun!
