Squidward Q Tentacles Posted February 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2013 We jumped ship and recently took a cruise on Disney with our DS, DDIL, DGD and DDILDP. There is a tradition, so we hear, of decorating your door on Disney. This was on our door decoration, my wife made most of it but did entrust the balloons to me to finish! It's a lot of fun maybe we will have a door decoration on our Dec. Pearl cruise!

time2cruise1 Posted February 28, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2013 That is really nice. One thing to keep in mind NCL has a policy of no door decorations.

time2cruise1 Posted February 28, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 28, 2013 said it isn't so!:mad::mad::mad: So in fact the group leader letter in your cabin you get when organize a M&G. Makes it very clear to make sure you let everyone know not to decorate doors :( Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - Jim
seavoyager6 Posted February 28, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2013 A good reason to book NCL and another great reason (number 6000) to avoid anything Disney.

It is something the girls look forward to doing! It is also very helpful to find your cabin door after a few drinks! Hopefully the owners suite will be easy to find! Still disappointed about this news - we have already bought/made decorations! Tam
Rochesterboatingdotcom Posted February 28, 2013 #12 Share Posted February 28, 2013 That is really nice. One thing to keep in mind NCL has a policy of no door decorations. Didn't seem to be enforced over Haloween last year - every third door had tons of Haloween decorations and they were never removed. Gardner, hope you enjoyed your cruise!! -Ron and Jane
mom2tcdx2 Posted February 28, 2013 #13 Share Posted February 28, 2013 Wow I didn't know we couldn't decorate the doors, but I guess I do now. That is a really neat thing that we can do on Disney, really neat to see all the decorations that people do.
Squidward Q Tentacles Posted February 28, 2013 Author #14 Share Posted February 28, 2013 sorry, didnt feel like watching a 40 second advertisement to get to it. maybe you can post a picture? After 3 seconds you can hit skip the add. It took her about 2 weeks to make it and it looked pretty cool and it now on our mantle at home.
readytogo2 Posted February 28, 2013 #15 Share Posted February 28, 2013 Looks great, I'd just be afraid after all that work, someone would bump into it and ruin it as the halls are so narrow while passing another person.
Sauer-kraut Posted February 28, 2013 #16 Share Posted February 28, 2013 Very good job! All I was going to do is use magnetized paper cutouts of stuff. Did you have fish hanger too?? I have decorated my door on Norwegian. No tape, just bits of bendable magnet on the back of paper decorations. Nothing was said. It was there all cruise... Just saying! MaccaMom Posted February 28, 2013 #17 Share Posted February 28, 2013 We decorated our door on the Star in January, in fact, our cabin steward put the signs up for us. I went to the Dollar Tree and bought two of the magnetic register vent covers (really just a large magnet) and decorated those with stickers and whatnot for my brother's birthday. They worked great and were cheap!

OceanDreaming2 Posted February 28, 2013 #19 Share Posted February 28, 2013 I've decorated our cabin doors for years. Only once was there an announcement about door decorations and that was not enforced. As long as it does not cause an obstruction I doubt there would be a problem. Squidward - your wife is VERY talented!

halos Posted March 1, 2013 #21 Share Posted March 1, 2013 That is really nice. One thing to keep in mind NCL has a policy of no door decorations. Then they don't enforce it... On our Sept Dawn cruise, for our anniversary, our family decorated the whole hallway practically. Nobody said anything or touched it. I see door decor all the time on NCL OP: Your wife is very Martha-Steward-ish :)
jdvmd Posted March 1, 2013 #22 Share Posted March 1, 2013 While I don't decorate our doors when cruising, I have seen numerous doors decorated my cruises. Is this a new development? Maybe it just hasn't been enforced. OP, very elaborate! I was going to ask how you transported to the ship and if you left it there but see that it is now sitting on your mantle. Squidward Q Tentacles Posted March 2, 2013 Author #23 Share Posted March 2, 2013 She carried it in a grocery bag, used magnets to stick it to the door.
Rare ttnc4me Posted March 2, 2013 #24 Share Posted March 2, 2013 Maybe that's their policy "in case" they want to enforce it. You know...like saving lounge chairs.;) They probably frown on putting tape on the door but magnetic stuff would be ok. Seeing as how NCL decorated our doors for us for birthdays, I doubt it's an issue.
