My mum has cabin 8542, will it be the first pic, half steel half glass? I am only asking as we have an inside cabin but would like to join them on their balcony and I can see on that pic that it fits four chairs.

Yes.

Deck 7 and above have balcony walls that are half steel, half glass. You won't find Mariner type balconies on Adventure.

Sorry but we were on deck 9 for TA and we were all steel...no glass at sides that is .

He was talking about the rail facing the ocean not the side walls. They are all steel on Voyager, Explorer, and Adventure. Are you saying that your railing was all steel?

Thank you for the feedback. Most hotels haven't released rooms for the end of March 2015 yet so I have a bit of time before making a decision. Will keep reading reviews of hotels and checking these boards for additional information. Looking forward to getting back on Adventure! :D

New to this thread, thinking of a late March Southern trip on Adventure, 3/22/15 I believe. Which one are you on?

Haven't been on Adventure since 2008. We have her booked for May 16, the Aruba/Curacao run. Curious as to what might have changed since then. Also, it shows things as "coming soon." Does that mean it's going into drydock in the near future? The only thing I would want is a CHOPS!!!

She recently underwent a very short 'revitalization' before the east bound TA we sailed on back to the UK.

The major changes were:

Diamond Club replaced 19th Hole in Viking Crown, deck 14

Digital Wayfinders around the ship

Pervasive WiFi throughout the ship

New deck flooring on main pool deck

Outdoor Movie screen on main pool deck

Replacement of CRT TV's with flat screen TV's in all cabins

Removal of separate dining rooms adjacent to MDR deck 3 and installation of new interior cabins in that space

Change of speciality restaurant Portofino on deck 11 to Giovanni's Table

Renaming of Aquarium Bar to Lobby Bar on deck 4 but displaying Boleros drinks menus

I think that's about it.

Welcome to the thread. We are sailing 3/29.....the Aruba and Caracao route. BTW, we ended up booking the Condado Plaza Hilton for two nights precruise.

Sailed AOS after short dry dock. Unfortunately, no Chops....Portifinos was replaced by Giovanni's Table.

Hubby's hairdresser said that Condado is the place to be! How did you like the Plaza Hilton? We'll probably need a hotel for one night, either coming or going, not sure yet.

We are getting ready to book AOS on 3/22 Southern Caribbean. Looks like the JS aft cabins on Deck 7 are available, and also one on Deck 9, on the hump, right off the elevators #9318. Anyone been in those hump cabins? I was wondering about noise. I think the balcony would be great, but not if we can't sleep. I like aft cabins, but if the hump is a good location, might take that instead. Any thoughts?

Personally I'd take the hump cabin. Not too keen on the aft cabins on Voyager and Freedom class ships due to the superstructure that can spoil the view. Had hump cabin on Adventure and didn't experience any noise.

We are booked at the Plaza Hilton next year for our. March 2015 cruise. Have stayed at the Caribe Hilton in the past precruise. Hotel is beautiful but the resort is not close to anything except the port.

Would agree with the above. While many enjoy the aft cabins, we were not pleased with ours. Our balcony on deck 6 was set so far back we barely had any ocean view. In addition, the crew have an open area under this part of the ship. That was louder than any noise we have ever heard on or near the hump. I prefer the hump or near aft elevators and have never had any issues with noise.

Thanks, I'll go for #9318 if it's still available. I guess that's why the aft cabins on Deck 7 are still available, no one is happy with them!

I'm booked in a grand suite for May of 2015. I'm really looking forward to sailing from San Juan, and going on a new itinerary. For those of you who have sailed this route, what did you do at the ports? It includes St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Aruba and Curacao.

Someone also mentioned that when you get to the port in San Juan, there is a duty free shop there where you can purchase wine to bring on board. Does this sound right?

I'm looking forward to learning more. It's too early for RCI to have excursion information up for me to look at. :(

I only know about St. Kitts. We spent 6 days there when my niece was in Veterinary school on the island, and we had a great time. The Brimstone Fortress is a nice place if you like forts and history. There is the Sky Safari Zip Line which was so much fun. Caribelle Batik factory and store is next to Romney Manor, lots of pretty plants and trees there, and the batik shop is quite colorful. We drove all around the island one day, saw the Black Rock cliffs, stopped at the Fort, did a few other things. Good Johnny Cakes at the Port, Ms. Moore's restaurant way in the back, a little blue restaurant. The beaches at the other end of the island were fun - Reggae and Shipwreck - and there is a casino in the Marriott Resort where we stayed, nice spa too. You can get a day pass I think. Nirvana Restaurant is attached to the Fairview Great House and had a pool too. You can eat and swim! The view is wonderful from up there. I think they have cooking classes too - http://www.nirvanafairview.com

That should get you started! We loved St. Kitts, it was nice to have so much time to really explore. Oh and there are catamarans to Nevis too, have heard those are fun. And I've heard of Pereira Tours, they get good marks on Trip Advisor I think, but I haven't used them. I have tons of pictures if you want to email me at janeyzee at cfl.rr.com and I can send you a few if there is something on my list that you decide to do.

We had aft cabin on deck 10 AOS and it was fantastic. Great view, quite, and big. It was a D1 and it was bigger than our friends JS

My mom, sister and myself and going to be on the adventure in September of 2015 for a southern itinerary cruise. We are in an OS, 1600. It's going to be my third cruise ( First with royal) and first ever for mom and sis. I love this thread with all the wonderful information! Hope to fall in love with her as everybody on here seems to have:D. She sounds like a wonderful ship!

In St. Thomas, there is an excursion you can do for Blackbeard's Castle, but we ended up doing it on our own and it was cheaper. The cab fair to it was cheap and the entry fee to "get in" was cheap. Then you take yourself on a self-guided tour down the hill hitting certain landmarks and historical spots as you go. They will give you a map. It was one of my favorite things that we did. Tons of gorgeous photo ops. Loved it! You end your journey in an Amber museum which was really neat to see.

In Curacao, we literally just got off the ship and walked around, exploring the shops and roadside markets. We went into their historical museum and enjoyed the architecture.

It's interesting, because when we did our Southern Caribbean itinerary before, it was the only one we did where we didn't actually book excursions, but we had the best time...it's just so beautiful there you can't go wrong.

As far as it being too early for the excursions to be listed, if you go to the main page on RC's site, and click on Ports of Call, it will have a link to view excursions on each Port of Call's page....prices and all. It will give you preview!

Enjoy your trip!:)

I disagree, deck 7 aft corner cabins are one of the cheapest balconies on board and they have one of the biggest balconies on the ship! The steel structure on the back of ship can be a distraction on deck 6 because these aft cabins are set back. Deck 7 corner has a huge round opening on the side of the ship for a great view off the side of the ship and you can still see directly out to toward the wake of the ship as well.ImageUploadedByForums1402450508.821217.jpg.d81803e5ee631eccc03cd928cb6cb8a0.jpg

Those do look interesting. Oh well, we've booked the hump cabin, so maybe next time we go on Adventure we'll consider Deck 7 Aft. We enjoyed the aft location on Enchantment.
