TMWOOD1012 Posted March 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2013 Anyone had a group of 12 or more that you had to seat together for dinner int he main dining room? What is the largest table they can offer and how do I arrange this? With TA or Matre'D?
Rare cruisestitch Posted March 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2013 Start with your TA
dcourt Posted March 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2013 First make sure that your TA links all the rooms/travelers together. Then have the TA request a table through Celebrity. Even if your TA says this has been done, the first thing when you board check your actual table in the dining room. We had a large group of 11 and was reassured that we would have a table together. When we arrived we immediately went to the dining room to find our table. We found a table for 8 not 11. We found the Maitr'd and he corrected the problem, he just expanded the fold down leaf that the table had. Presto, it was a table for 11.
Wine-O Posted March 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2013 We had a group of 14 and had the TA's link all our bookings and request two tables next to each other - one for 8 and the other for 6. It worked out well. Tables for 10 or 12 are way too much, especially for the waiter to handle all the food at one time. We did that one time, and never again. Rare Lois R Posted March 7, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2013 I agree with Wine-O....get 2 tables. Much easier for everyone.
jgnova Posted March 7, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2013 I also agree with Wine-O - a round table that large is too wide - you won't be able to hear the people opposite you and wind up with smaller clusters. Ditto for one long table. So why not just get two tables for 6? That becomes manageable and you can swap around each night for variety in your conversations. j
