Many thanks for your excellant reports/happenings ~~I am enjoying reading your postings everyday! As you know, the beautiful "Pride Queen" is my very favorite of the Seabourn fleet!

I surely have missed being aboard "her"this year ~~hopefully my health will improve and I will be able to book a Pride sailing in the near future.

Again a 1,000 thank you's ~continue to have lots of fun on your voyage.:)

Texas hugs to all

Miss Martita B

Martha, you have been referred to many times. I must find out the gentleman's name that seems to always be near our table as he last night was having his caviar delivered as usual to the Club and then at dinner having his crepe suzettes prepared table side. He is always singing to his wife...second marriage...both lost spouses and have been on Seabourn many times. I heard him ask about you. I will find out his name. Several of the crew have mentioned your name as one of the "old-timers"...repeat visits, Martha, not age! Jan asked about you too...also several said they hadn't see you sailing lately. I reported you were not at your peak at the moment but would be back! You would know many on this ship!

Thank you SO much for your kind messages......pleeeeze tell my Pride family I am slowly recovering from awful neuropathy! Brought on from shingles back in May of 2011. I wouldn't wish this nerve disorder on the devil....I am very happy that now I have a Doctor (8th one this year) that truly cares about my recovery and has found medication that is helping.

Yes, I do plan to sail on the Pride Queen as soon as I can fly.

I am so happy you and Bob are enjoying everyday of your exciting cruise.....

ohhh, ask Jan to tell you the story of her "Sunday morning sermon in the Pride card room.....and of me coming in late to hear her story of the little sick girl named Jewel (my Mothers name)" It is a really funny true saga!

Be prepared to laugh out loud!:D Bob will enjoy hearing the story also.

Thank you again for your excellent reports and postings!

Big Texas hugs and XXX's for all aboard.

Safe sailing.....

Martita B

Another beautiful sea day on the Pride. Lots of wind came up and it is MUCH cooler on deck. Today was fashion show. Such fun. Kari Newby does such a good job with it...guest models and staff. Jan does the commentary and so funny! All models seem to love hamming it up!. Aaron (asst CD) comes in with his Tom Cruise look and does a handstand....Bennie from the Seabreeze Band dressed to the nines with spiked hair and in "cruise" white, very spiffy. Aznenath (singer with Seabreeze) wears a dress that showed off her pretty figure...of course she would look good in a sack! One elderly couple modeled and she had had her hair cut. Her husband had his golf club and walked in swinging his putter. His wife looked so good with new "do" that he proposed again (after 50 years). It was a lot of fun. Full house. Jan Stearman (our CD did the commentary and she has a real bent for comedy so kept everyone laughing. All models wore VERY expensive jewelry from the shop. Her show last night with her very talented saxophone husband was very good. She did Cole Porter with lots of humor. Tonight is Aaron's own show. He is very high energy and puts on a fun show. They have had wonderful attendance for most all the shows..Forgot to say..The violinist modeled. He was SO funny...did a model imitation that brought the house down. Wizard with the violin. Dressed in pink linen shirt, not tucked in, bright tie and jeans and then blue suede loafters and laughed and laughed. Unfortunately I had to follow him and I was still laughing.

Also meant to say we are in second place in trivia but the first place team is so far ahead of everyone else...they will win and then it's a race between the other three.

Tonight is club night and formal night and we are sitting with the Club Representative, Warren Van Zyl...nice young man we booked our next cruise with. Forgot to say this segment has 188 passengers. 29 Australia, 64 UK, 54 US, 10 NZ, 10 Switzerland, 11 Canada, 10 Germany and a few miscellaneous.

We are in Saudi waters, (Red Sea)1400 miles from Salalah, heading for Safaga, with about 600 to go until we arrive Monday the 15th. We are in a safer area as we have passed Ethiopia and Yemen and heading for Egyptian waters. We are leading the pact, Odyssey and Quest are right behind us also heading for Safaga. I thought it would be so nice if we all were there at the same time but don't think that will happen. We have been about three days or so ahead of them for a couple of weeks.

Nice to see you back! It's nice to be young enough to still work! Something they have started is having an early show at 6:30. We really like that. So for the violinist we saw him at 10:00 a few days ago and tonight he is doing a 6:30....so we will catch his show. We will miss Connie and Niels at 6:30 but the SKY BAR HAS OPENED (Yeah!) and we have 7:30 reservations and we will sit out and enjoy after we eat and then go at 9:30w to Club and hear Connie and Niels then. Dancing Under the Stars is tonight and we will head to bed at 10:15 and skip Dancing Under the Stars. I like it when they have an early show. We aren't dancers, so it works out perfect, and weather is wonderful to sit outside. Such a good life!

Captain has opened up all the outside now since we are in safer waters and we lose our guards in Safaga but there are still other safety people on board and some other things....I will do what another poster did and NOT divulge all the security measures!

If will give a little caveat to this trip. The Pride IS showing her age but like Miss Martha, we love her anyway! We called housekeeping to tell them that each night the bathtub backs up for a couple of inches and then grit in the tub. Cannot get hot water in sinks, just warm. We are pretty adaptable. I just rinse out the tub and run the tub when I need a little hot water. This has been going on for a while. However since we are leaving for Luxor at 7:30 in the morning (yikes!) I thought they could have two days to maybe fix it. The mattress is a little on the lumpy side (but just in the middle). It definitely should be replaced. The upholstery etc. is looking a little worn and could use a thorough scrubbing...a few stains here and there (I'm a picky housekeeper) BUT with all that said...we love the Pride. We are getting older and have the same problems!! Somehow the staff makes up for all that!

Had the Club night last night. 110 club members on board. The Club cruise specialist Warren Van Zyl from Capetown is an engaging young man. Been with Seabourn three years...started as a waiter. We enjoyed his table. We normally go to two hosted tables at most. We have been to many on this cruise and all but one was very very enjoyable. Nice group of outgoing people.

One new person commented at dinner that he never saw anyone even slightly inebriated. He was right. People seem to nurse a drink forever. However, we have seen a few in the past. Last segment there was a mother and son. It took us a while to figure out it really was mother and son, not a May/December!. They drank champagne from early morning until bedtime and n a few in the past. Last segment there was a mother and son. It took us a while to figure out it really was mother and son, not a May/December!. They drank champagne from early morning until bedtime and never seemed the worse for wear! A lot of us were amazed!

Have to get to Ambassador lecture...He is constantly revising his talk depending on the news. He says if you heard him a year from now you would not recognize the same talks. He has lectured on the "World" ship and said it was quite an experience. Last segment we met two couples that had owned a suite on it. THe one couple sold his....said the people were just too wealthy and nothing was exciting for them. He missed the real world. Interesting.n Before I digressed meant to say the lecture is "The Future of Fluids: Oil and Water in the Middle East" and Martyn Green is doing "the Gulf of Suez and the Port of Sohkna" Both should be good. I will have to watch one on TV because we have a guest on board who is a water aerobic instructor and a group of us are meeting in the pool each seaday at 2:00 to work off the meals! Then a massage! Something I don't normally do but I picked it as part of the loyalty program benefits! The one I like best is the laundry. I can really STUFF those bags and 24 hour later VOILA! Great work too...I sent Bob's Dishdasha (he is going to wear that on Egyptian night....and it looks like a formal dress shirt they pressed it so well...($15 purchase).ever seemed the worse for wear! A lot of us were amazed!
