Underage Gambling on Epic (isolated)

I was in Atlantic city about 20 years ago & on 1 trip a kid (19) hit a progressive machine for 1.2 Million, of course the mother said she pulled the handle, they went to the video, they had the proof & the casino refused to pay and they were both banned from the casino to boot.

To everyone bashing the OP did you ever think that they feel the casino is a place (rightfully so) to get away from everyone else's little darlings.

Flame on......

But this game wasn't in the casino, the OP stated that it was "on the forward side of O-Sheehan's" The casino on the epic is toward the aft of O'Sheehans.

Oops I missed that, My bad. I thought it was the drop the quarter/pushing machine in the casino. I see nothing wrong with it, just your typical Jersey shore carnival game.

I was disappointed/distressed...to see two adult males allowing a minor child to operate the controls of the key machine on the forward side of O-Sheehan's during my cruise. One of the adults was probably a parent or at least blood relative based on the clear physical resemblance. Child was around 10. Adult male would swipe key card, child would operate controls. I watched for a few times to see whether the activity would continue. "Pops" took over the controls after a few child tries, but then child took over again. I walked to the Cashier counter to report the infraction. However, before cashier could get someone in authority to investigate, I saw "Pops" and child walking by, so the activity had ceased.

The even worse thing to report is a crew member stopped to watch the activity during part of the time I was there. Just watching (from two feet away) and not stopping the activity. He was even offering advice for better maneuvers. Just wish I had gotten the crew member's name.

You were distressed over a child playing a game? That's sad. You reported it? That's funny.

I can't believe I see so many posts about living your life to the letter of the law! A bunch of retired law enforcement maybe?

I have worked with and known a lot of law enforcement officials. Active and retired . Trust me even they aren't that bad. :)

I think the OP was 100% correct. In a society in such a breakdown of values, we need people like the OP. I only wish I had the guts to report a crime such as a child pressing a button on an arcade machine.

They should of kicked the entire family off the ship and the OP, given a medal or some other humanitarian award, perhaps the Nobel prize for being a tattle tale.

WOW, can you say disgruntled hall monitor?

I have a question for those who support the OP in reporting a child having fun with his parents near the casino.

Imagine other parents complaining to you or NCL because your child is not tall enough for the slides, should not be drinking soda, too young to be picking up that bowling ball, should not be eating french fries, should not be running in the play area, etc

Are you seriously telling us you would not be peeved at someone else telling you how to parent when your child is having fun on vacation with his parents? It is just way out of line for something that is harmless and happens at shopping mall arcades all the time. I dont even have kids but am deeply offending at the actions of the OP.

I agree 100%

In fact ,I just got off the phone with Caroline Kennedy and told her all about this .

She said "The Hell with Mother Teresa ,,This years Profile In Courage Award goes to the OP"

:) :)

I grew up with "Snitches Get Stitches"

Since we all know NCL keeps an eye out;

The moment this thread entered the NCL boardroom on one of those live screens (hence all the bowcams, the stockmarket, weather sat feed and such being displayed, Kevin Sheehan nervously waiting for something)..

"Mr Sheehan, we've got signs that there was illegal gambling on the Epic.. we are switching the main screen for a live feed of the Cruise Critic thread now."

Moments later.. "Oh huh, what, wait. Nevermind." PRICELESS.

I was on this sailing noticed the 2 key machines . I didn't play them on Epic but the week before we boarded Epic we were sailing on the Caribbean Princess.

The Princess ship had the same machine just outside the casino and I did try it once.

The one on Princess also had a sign that you had to be a certain age to play but I can't remember exactly what the age was.

One thing I found interesting was that the prizes and cash amounts were the same on each ship.

Also on each ship the 1st and 2nd prizes to be won where in the same positions on the game and were won about 4 or 5 days into the cruise.

Yep, because winning has nothing to do with skill and isn't random. Probably the default settings for the machines made them consistent
