Bayport Granny Posted June 23, 2013 #1801 Share Posted June 23, 2013 Gambee, Gambee, Gambee--thank you, thank you, thank you. I was very fortunate in finding your thread after you had completed it, so I didn't have to wait for further postings. My 27 year old daughter and I are on the Breakaway July 14-21. We splurged and booked an aft facing balcony (#11310)--it looks like it should be similar to yours. Thanks for all the info--we did the same itinerary last year on NCL's Star and are super-excited to try it now on the Breakaway. We loved Bermuda and know what we want to see this time (a couple of things we didn't get to last summer). We hired a private taxi for just the two of us our first day in port, and got to see so much of the island up close and personal--what we spent was less than if the two of us had done the all-island NCL excursion. Thanks for all your advice, all the info, and those gorgeous photos. Wow!
joanc88 Posted June 23, 2013 #1802 Share Posted June 23, 2013 Gambee, Just wondering about fireworks viewing...we have an aft facing cabin on deck 13 next month, can we see the fireworks from the balcony? With kids, I don't know if they'll last till 11:15 at night. Thanks!:)

But I like doing things in a frugal way and saving a few bucks here and there. I hope you enjoy the breakaway as much as we did, thank you for posting. Gambee,Just wondering about fireworks viewing...we have an aft facing cabin on deck 13 next month, can we see the fireworks from the balcony? With kids, I don't know if they'll last till 11:15 at night. Thanks!:) I think we have addressed this several times in this thread. Some folks reported that if you're port side you could see them, but I think only if you have a S6. Personally I would not recommend it, you might miss out. MigMan Posted June 23, 2013 #1804 Share Posted June 23, 2013 Hi Gambee You said you found a lounge on your balcony, I have deck 14 on aft. If lounge is not on balcony how can I get one? Thanks Larry
fivegirl Posted June 23, 2013 #1805 Share Posted June 23, 2013 Gambee: just back from the 16-23 sailing. Thanks again for all of the advance info. loyalroyal17 Posted June 24, 2013 #1806 Share Posted June 24, 2013 Thank you Rachelle. Sarah is doing most of the Planning, I am all planned out. Actually I think that I wont be planning as much in my future cruises, in essence to leave some mystery to the adventure. She has however conveyed to me a few of her ideas, and they all suggest what you just told me. I think we are going to the steakhouse on the first day to take advantage of the free bottle of wine. I am actually starting to get really excited about that cruise, we have some cool shore excursions planned (I know I am contradicting myself). But anyway, thank you so much for your input. I am sure that since I know how Carnival works I am prepared for the product. Something tells me that we will have a great time! Hi Gambee! Just wanted to check in and say hi! Doesn't sound like your mom is going on this cruise with you and Sarah? That's my impression anyway. I'm sure you'll have a great cruise!
Mis94 Posted June 24, 2013 #1807 Share Posted June 24, 2013 Hi Gambee! I'm about half way through your review and have even printed it (no small task lol!) for my not-forum-savy Mom so she can get read about the Breakaway in advance of our 11/10/13 trip. Your review is AMAZING and I know it will be all she needs to get excited as a first time cruiser (our sixth). I've been to Bermuda three times and seeing your pictures really sent me back....such a beautiful island! What post # is the spreadsheet on? I've skipped all around trying to find it and so far no luck. I'm sure, like your review, its a *must read*!! Enjoy the Breeze! Thanks again! Bayport Granny Posted June 24, 2013 #1811 Share Posted June 24, 2013 Gambee, I think I've read ALL your posts quite thoroughly, but do not recall seeing whether NCL provides bathrobes in the aft-facing balcony cabins? We've enjoyed them on the Jewel and the Star. Thanks for your help (again).

gambee Posted June 24, 2013 Author #1814 Share Posted June 24, 2013 Tell me more! When is the next one? What ship? Where is it going to? No idea, we r thinking Royal Princes, Getaway, Disney. Most likely RP, but we are still working things out first. Possibly march? If I see a sale on a Disney cruise I might take advantage of it as well. They give us good Florida Discounts :). slyletter Posted June 24, 2013 #1820 Share Posted June 24, 2013 Gambee, I totally forgot to ask in my thanks post earlier... Since I will be in your exact room on Sept 1st I wanted to ask if you would have been able to see the fireworks from your Balcony? I know that you went up on deck to see them, but based on where they were, would you guess that you could have seen them from your balcony? My apologies if you've already answered this anywhere, there are just so many replies on this post. Thanks again. S

Hypo Posted June 26, 2013 #1824 Share Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) Gambee, I may have missed the information in the previous 92 pages.:) My question, with the ship spending three nights in the Bahamas, are the casino and the shops closed for that entire time? Or, are they allowed to open them in the evening? Thanks, Hypo Edited June 26, 2013 by Hypo
