JudithLynne Posted May 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2013 We have just booked a minisuite (Dolphin Deck) on the Emerald for a TA cruise next year. We are lucky to get it, but I have a concern regarding the current smoking policy and hope someone can give me some feedback. We are booked forward port side. Are we at risk of smoke drifting up from the Promenade deck? We are very smoke sensitive. I did an exhaustive research and could not find where the designated outdoor smoking areas are on the Emerald. We really do not want to give up this cabin as there are no other minisuites available. Thanks for any feedback….. Judith
Pam in CA Posted May 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2013 Unlikely even if you're booked on the side allowing smoking as you are two decks above the Promenade.
OCruisers Posted May 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2013 You aren't close to a smoking area with your location on Dolphin Deck. LuLu ~~~~
VaCruzers Posted August 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2013 Can anyone elaborate on where the smoking areas are? Is it consistently one side of the ship versus the other? On RCL, it was always port ( I think) but bottom line, once I knew which side, I could always manage to avoid it.
OCruisers Posted August 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2013 Can anyone elaborate on where the smoking areas are? Is it consistently one side of the ship versus the other? On RCL, it was always port ( I think) but bottom line, once I knew which side, I could always manage to avoid it. We were on Emerald for 20 nights in January 2013. There really are not lots of smoking areas. There is a an outside smoking area (not very large) just above the Lido Deck (15) on the Sun Deck (16). It's toward the front on the port side beside (not at) the bar. There is no comfortable place to sit down and smoke on Promenade Deck (7). In fact, I only saw one of the "smoking station" metal things attached to the wall. You won't have a problem on Promenade Deck avoiding smoke. The Cigar bar is Speakeasy which is on the port side beside the casino. Smoking is allowed in the casino in limited places. Some nights (normally formal nights) it is smoke free. Skywalkers has a small smoking area later in the evening. Hope this helps! :) LuLu ~~~~

Clutterlady Posted August 11, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2013 There is one small area at the Terrace Pool for smoking. Has an ashtray attached to the wall.
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted August 12, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 12, 2013 People definitely smoke on the Lido Deck above the Terrace Deck port side. There is also smoking on the Promenade Deck starboard side. The smokiest outside place I encountered was Deck 16, port side, by the Tradewinds Bar.
