satchiesmom Posted June 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2013 Is there a good place in Victoria for Poutine?
Twickenham Posted June 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2013 Poutine is a Quebec thing. I'd be very surprised to find it anywhere in Victoria.
scottbee Posted June 3, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2013 Out toward the naval base in Esquimalt there are a few places. As the navy is about 25% French Canadian, there tends to be a lot more specialty retail outlets catering to their tastes. There used to be a place just past Esquimalt Plaza on the south side of the road saying "Ici Poutine Ici" (just looked it up, it's called La Belle Patate). To get there from downtown, there's very frequent service on the #6 "Esquimalt" bus. Heck there's even a specialty Newfoundland grocery out by the base! satchiesmom Posted June 3, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted June 3, 2013 Why anyone would go out of their way to get poutine to eat is beyond me! DH read about it in a novel and wants to try it. Doesn't appeal to me.
yyjguy Posted June 3, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2013 Just a few blocks away from the cruise ship shuttle bus stop and 6 blocks away from the Empress Hotel you will find perhaps the best in Victoria. That is at the "Local Kitchen" with great views out over the harbour. Great patio for good weather dining, and cheap beer!! On Wharf St at Bastion Square. Hope your wife enjoys it and that you get to try some good brew from one of Victoria's micro brewery's. :-)
