Making Luggage Waterproof

I bought waterprof luggage covers, called Coverlugg's. They worked great for me and made my luggage easy to spot.

How do you keep it from rolling up when being tossed around by luggage handlers. That was a complaint in one of the reviews on Amazon.

Thanks for the info, but I'm mainly interested in my large hang-up bag that will have all my dress clothes and DH's tux. It is sort of square when folded in half after closing it. We love it because our clothes don't wrinkle (much) and the clothes stay on hangers with dry cleaner bags on them.

We had one trip where are luggage was out in a downpour, think tropical storm deluge! After that experience, I want to be safe.

Coverlugg looks good if you just wanted to make your luggage stand out, but I'm interested in waterproofing my luggage. Any companies make something like that? Thanks

From their website

What is COVERLUGG made of? Is it waterproof?

The COVERLUGG is an extremely durable neoprene cover for your luggage. This is the same material used in wet suits! Your COVERLUGG is waterproof to protect your suitcase and your belongings from rain and snow.

We've had two of Samsonite's hardside suitcases for almost 20 yrs. and they're still going strong........just some minor scratches.. They have a tongue-in-groove closure (no zippers) which makes them water resistant. We've never had any problem with leaks. I love that they have built in combination locks (you set the combination). Measurements: 29 1/2" x 20" x 12". Weight: 11.2 lbs.

Mine fits snug on my suit cases. I've never had a problem with it rolling up.

I had planned on spraying it with a waterproof spray, but once I got it , I decided not too. Water just beads up on top of it.

Do many cruisers use those increasingly ubiquitous luggage wrapping machines in airports?

I would think TSA would have a problem with that wrapping. How would they open it for inspection?

If traveling internationally, how would customs in arrival country deal with it?

Had the same problem once. For a garment bag, I'd use vinyl dress/suit bags rather than dry cleaner bags. It's still not completely waterproof, but it's better.
