Thank you so much SwissDave for posting to let us know this. :)

Hope you are enjoying this leg of your cruise - the weather showing on the bridge cam certainly seems an improvement over that of Southampton.

Again' date=' thank you for taking some of your holiday to ease the minds of those in the affected mini-suites!

No problem. Today is the first with good weather since we left Southampton.

SwissDave - did you happen to see any of the forward corner minis (M107/08, L107/08)? Are they bigger? How are they configured? Any info would be greatly appreciated! :)

i saw quite a few people dancing in the atrium, it was in fact my favourite place to sit. It looked like a nice place to dance too.

the regular balcony cabin had a shower gel and 2 in 1 shampoo conditioner on the wall.

Are their products still the Eucalyptus ones?

Also, has anyone seen pics of the standard balcony rooms? I've been reading and looking at pics for days but all I've seen is deluxe, suite, mini suite and inside room.

Thanks.

Good decision!

It looked like a relaxing place to have a drink but not really fair to those with balconies under it.

On our last cruise (Ruby) we stayed in a mini-suite that had a completely uncovered balcony that could be seen from above. It never bothered me. But then we usually don't do anything naughty outside. <g>

My attitude was "Let them eat their hearts out."

I asked earlier & still haven't received the answer.

Could you please find out which areas of the Promenade deck are smoking? I'm on the Emerald deck starboard side midship where one of the open areas is below & wondering if there are going to be smokers right underneath my balcony? Also in case I'm able to change my cabin could you also find out which of the other areas are smoking on the promenade deck?

Thanks!

I didn't notice but just looked at my Patter that I brought home and it simply states "only the outside starboard side of Promenade deck has a designated area for smoking". Not much of the promenade deck is accesible (we managed to go out of a crew only door by accident when a crew member held it open!) so I imagine the smokers will be quite concentrated in one area but sorry that I didn't see if it was midship or aft.

Def starboard side aft is smoking, sorry not sure about mid ship will check later.

Internet been really bad for us for the past few days, really struggling, even my cruise card doesn't work when I get on and off the ship but unfortunately nobody seems to know what's up with it and they are having problems printing Platinum cards so unable to have another one!!!!!

If you go through these pictures, I think she was in a regular balcony cabin.

To anyone who has been in the gym. Is Princess placing time limit cards or enforcing time limits on the treadmills and ellipticals?

What time does the gym open in the AM and are the treadmills on at that time?

I too am very interested in this and have the same questions. Princess lists L107/108 as 676 sq. ft. while M107/108 are listed as 483 sq. ft. Can someone onboard investigate this for us, please. :) Pictures of the balconies and the interior would be amazing!

Does it appear that M107/108 have the entire bridge wing as the balcony?

It appears that way. However, a big portion of that wing may be off limits while at sea. It's unclear at this point but I do think those balconies on the side of the ship (and part of M1/708/L107/08) appear bigger (longer) than regular mini balconies. Princess told me those will be accessible while at sea.

Hi All

Weather today is amazing light winds clear blue skies and temps could get to 26,

Last night for Lisbon sailaway a bit windy ship got a very slight list and was corrected before most passengers even noticed,

Plastic palm trees in the treat got battered, maintenance blokes trying to put them back together

Retreat cabanas not seen them in use, the tie backs broke due to the wind,

Last night big dancing fountains show, did not happen we had light, we had music we had no water,

some one said the fountain tech boy got off yesterday, looks like he got off to soon,

one lift still out of action kone engineers onboard so expect it will be fixed soon, or they could just be doing inspections

see a lot of folks around the ship with lap tops plugged into maintenance access cupboards, assume most things can be controlled by computer these days, so the days of a guy and a tool box are gone,

we are passing the coast of Africa just now, loads of little fishing boats, as well as larger freighters, tankers etc.

if you look very close around the ship, you find little things unfinished, they are a couple of coke machines which are not wired up, a few places deck lights are not installed just a rolled up cable, the teen play stations were getting installed yesterday,

there hundred kids onboard 50 of them being teens, apart from the boys and girls sharing a blanket at muts and doing what teens do, I think they have not worked out that us older folks were once their age, and know what they are up to,

the casino likes Mrs Shogun she walks away with anything from $25 to $50 more every time she plays, I just walk out now with what I walked in with, which is a lot better than the first few days

as to the TV being fixed so what the only place you can not see it is in the shower,

tried the balcony yesterday, OK we can sit and look at each other but not turn the chair to face the sea, unless you sit in an up right position,

if I was in charge of the third new build I would take a whole deck and make them sea view cabins, the extra few feet could be used better in the cabin, rather than wasted on a tiny deck,

the only time we have used it is to see out off, a opening window section would give us the same views.

Internet is down, so will post this when I can,

off to chefs table chat later

yours Shogun

Does anyone know yet how much the cabanas are to rent?

I am not referring to the ones with massages and TVs, just the ones near the pool that provide shade. I am shade-lover and would like to make a bee line to reserve one as soon as I get on the ship. Does anyone know the price structure?

I was informed by a deck steward on a visit in Southampton that it was $80 for half a day:) I will be on the ship 5 July for 12 days cant wait!!

Wondering what is being accepted attire for men on Formal nights. Is a blazer, khakis and a tie acceptable?

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

Since this tends to be an argumentative subject, I think you need to search around and read what others have to say. For me, your outfit would be OK. Others would be horrified.

The last few ships we've sailed (this year; Grand and Coral) gym has opened at 6:00. Hope it does here too. As for time limits, unfortunately they don't seem to enforce it. They should.

On my cruises last year on the Star and Sapphire, time limits were not enforced, though there were cards saying 25 minutes. As I was training for a marathon, my treadmill runs were rarely less than 90 minutes. So, I am hoping they continue to look the other way. The running track really doesn't look like the best option for me. Let's hope we don't get a new thread started along the lines of dress allowed in the MDR.

I don't recall reading any posts that would disagree with his assessment.

True, not on this thread. When a similar observation regarding the size of the balconies has been offered on other threads the usual replies are "oh, we don't spend much time on our balcony so who cares' and "if balcony size means so much to you, book with another ship or cruise line". I respect Shogun's opinions. The balconies are too darn small!

My own thoughts on some things that have been commented on

1. Yes, I wish the balconies were larger. My DH and I enjoy sitting on our ms balcony and enjoying the sun, the passing ships and the sea breezes. But this is one cruise and my main purpose is to enjoy a ship which will be only six months old when we sail on 12/8

2. I will check out the Seawalk, but watching you sunbath or have a balcony meal is not the reason I want to do the Seawalk. I want to hang above the ocean or Caribbean Sea in a way I have never done before. I grew up on the 9th floor of an apartment in NYC and have no fear of heights. I think it is exhilarating to be suspended but safe. On past cruisesI have been stared at, I am sure, by passengers above me and have taken a quick curious glance at balconies below me. It is just part of the experience.

3. Sorry, but I do hope Princess gym keeps exercise machines to time limit WHEN OTHERS ARE WAITING. I hate coming to the gym, noting when someone will be finished and then having to wait, using machines that don't fit my usual exercise pattern. I admire the fact that you run marathons and I only do 5K's, but I will make a fuss if you go too far over your time while I am waiting.

4. I will probably miss the Promenade going all the way around, but again, I love to cruise; I love to meet people. I'll adapt.

5. I am super excited to be on a new ship and that it is a Princess ship makes it better. The reality is, when you think about it, you get a room, all the food you can eat, entertainment, places you may never have been to before, good company, games, dancing and more for the price you have been quoted. If you want to add special meals, alcohol, gambling or other items, it is your choice and should budget according to your personal means.

I have been on nine cruises, some cheap, some more expensive; but I have never had a bad time because my husband and I have decided life is too short to not enjoy it.
