bh99mh Posted June 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2013 We have just been assigned Cabin 1037 for our cruise in two weeks. I notice this cabin is below 'The Golden Lion' and the 'Casino'. Has anyone been in this cabin before and can tell me what the noise from above is like. Hope it is not too bad. :(

Rare Colin_Cameron Posted June 26, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2013 Has no-one stayed in Cabin 1037 on Queen Victoria??? Doesn't look like it. :) We have however stayed in 1074(twice) and 1078. Both of these are further aft and under the Queen's Room. On one occasion we thought we could hear music from above but the harder we listened the less we were sure. Looking at the deck plans I think 1037 is just outside the pub and it looks like this area has a hard (tiled?) floor which may make a difference. :( I think this was taken from pretty much directly above 1037. I think the majority of the traffic will pass to the right of the picture to/from the Queen's Room behind the camera, the pub to the right, and the theatre ahead, and this area is carpeted. Regards, Colin.

Sail the seas Posted June 26, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2013 We have just been assigned Cabin 1037 for our cruise in two weeks. I notice this cabin is below 'The Golden Lion' and the 'Casino'. Has anyone been in this cabin before and can tell me what the noise from above is like. Hope it is not too bad. :( When we did the world cruise on QV 5 years ago we became friendly with someone in either this cabin or one very close by. It seemed to be a spacious inside cabin as I think 3 people can be accommodated. They didn't seem to have any complaints and they were in it for 107 days! Rare Colin_Cameron Posted June 27, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2013 It seemed to be a spacious inside cabin They certainly are. Regards, Colin.
glojo Posted June 27, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Those pictures really appeal to my sense of humour.. They say the camera never lies and that is certainly an extremely spacious cabin but I'm not sure about having a bed with that kind of taper where the foot of it is much wider than the headboard end ;);) It reminds me of those mirrors we see at the fun fair :)
Austcruiser84 Posted June 27, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Thanks for posting those photos, Colin! There isn't much out there in the way of information and photographs of deluxe inside staterooms. Just wondering whether the three wardrobe doors indicates more hanging space than normal insides, or whether one door is for shelving and the safe? I think you would somewhat miffed if you relied on those shots. David.

bh99mh Posted June 27, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Many thanks for all the info and the photos look great. Certainly quite spacious. Will let you know about the noise (if any) when we get back. Thanks again. :)
Oahucruiser Posted June 27, 2013 #12 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Thanks for posting those photos, Colin! There isn't much out there in the way of information and photographs of deluxe inside staterooms. Just wondering whether the three wardrobe doors indicates more hanging space than normal insides, or whether one door is for shelving and the safe? Two of the wardrobes are for hanging space and the middle one has shelves. One of the shelves has the safe and it takes up the whole space. There are also large pull-out drawers under the bed. MadScientist_01 Posted June 27, 2013 #13 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Mind you, if the cabin is below the pub and the casino that certainly is big :D even taking into account the camera lens I'm still impressed with the general size and layout of the cabin
Rare Colin_Cameron Posted June 27, 2013 #14 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Just wondering whether the three wardrobe doors indicates more hanging space than normal insides, or whether one door is for shelving and the safe?Oahucruiser is absolutely right. And here's the proof. The drawers under the bed weren't there originally and neither were the ones in the bedside units. There was a serious lack of storage space to begin with. Also the UK style sockets on the dresser were mounted so close to the surface that anything with a stiff cable, or a charger type of plug, couldn't be used. The cabins I've been in recently now have these sockets turned upside-down. Still, the room is much bigger than a standard inside. The ones on deck 1 are also bigger than the ones on deck 6! If anyone's interested, it isn't a fisheye lens. Its a nifty little (FREE) program called Autostitch. If your lens isn't wide enough to take in a view just take 2 or 3 (or 20 or 30) pictures and it will 'stitch' them together for something like this. And you're right. Sometimes the perspective leaves a little to be desired. Regards, Colin.
Austcruiser84 Posted June 28, 2013 #15 Share Posted June 28, 2013 Thank you Colin. That's plenty of wardrobe space and draws under the bed sound good. I deliberately booked a level 1 deluxe inside for the extra space. The photo stitch thing looks great too. Very useful!

Regards, Colin. Have recently booked on QE in a deluxe inside cabin, deck 1 directly under the entrance to the Queen's Room. After reading comments and studying the deck plans, my biggest concern with this cabin was the noise coming from above, I will now be more content with my choice. The cabin looks great as far as size goes, the thought of a little extra room appealed upon booking, but this is the first photo I have been able to find (a picture paints a thousand words ..... how true), so thanks a lot Colin for posting these great photos and information. Just realised that your info relates to QV, but hopefully the acoustics and soundproofing will be the same for QE, with regards to possibility of noise coming from above. I believe the layouts are very similar on both ships. Will definitely post the information once I have the experience to do so!! Meanwhile looking forward to the journey. Thanks again
glojo Posted July 6, 2013 #17 Share Posted July 6, 2013 Excellent pictures and there are some excellent stitching programs out there and I note the one you used was free so it is nice to see you were not 'stitched up' ;) (note the smiley) On the cabin shots were you going for that fish eye effect or did it just turn out that way? I am not being critical, I am simply curious about the different options you might have with the software you used.
keela1eva2 Posted July 6, 2013 #18 Share Posted July 6, 2013 I thought the bed looked like sagging in the middle!! Will be twins as I am travelling with my Granddaughter. Also booked a guarantee balcony and got my allocation today. Deck 4 but mid ship right by the central lifts. Pleased as Rebecca might be travel sick so low deck mid ship is the place to be!!
