I have a confession.....it goes like this.....I have to have a balcony because I LOVE watching the pier runners, late people to the ship, people who miss the ship. I just had to get that out there! I feel much better now!!! :D:D:D:D

A secondary perk to the ocean, but definitely a perk. We're right there watching too. :D:D

I got a balcony this cruise (upgraded for 50, couldn't pass that up) and I am kinda excited to watch pier runners in key west lol.

We leave at 2 and our ship is completely full! I am sure there will be a couple pier runners, hope I am not one of them lol

We always have a family bet as we sit on our balcony giving the pier runners their due cheer. At the ten minute mark prior to sailing we each guess a number of people that will be still running with less than 5 minutes to go (without going over). Winner selects what the losers must drink at the bar prior to dinner such as shots of jagermeister or some extremely sugary drink.

Man! I've had quite a few balconies and never seen pier runners in 12 cruises! I'm dying to see it!

Same here.....more like pier strollers in no big rush even late. I always want the captain to go watch this strollers, pull out and make them run.

Guilty, and I was just watching one of the cruise shows on the Travel Channel where the people were'nt running to catch the ship, but had to fly back to the port of embarkation, and they had several thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and electronics in their cabin . As is the situation in most cases, there were somewhere having a drink, and lost track of time

I've never seen pier runners either. Thought we were going to in Costa Maya because the gang blank was up, but the ship wasn't moving. We were all looking over our balconies when the gang blank came back down and a crew member came out and set some luggage on the dock; five minutes later more luggage came out:confused: Ten more minutes and a couple was escorted down the gang blank by security and joined the luggage:eek::eek:. The gang blank went up and off we went. The couple was giving the ship the finger big time. Not sure what they did, but it warranted kicking them off the ship:eek:

Seems like pier runners were more common at Cozumel when the ships docked downtown.

Funniest ever when we were docked downtown, with another ship across and the Coast Guard also present. All ships had folks hanging over heckling..encouraging..especially the ladies to RUN... not out of concern to make the ship leave on time..
