dotcomgirl Posted June 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2013 I really want to try a cruise with an aft wrap balcony room. My husband basically doesn't want to give up on a suite (ever since our suite on the Allure of the Seas he refuses to downgrade... hence our OS on our upcoming Liberty cruise). I am researching cruises for next year, and it seems to me that a Vista Suite is a compromise that would give us both what we want. Is this true? Also, which Carnival ships have Vista Suites? I tried searching a few by doing mock bookings and it doesn't seem like all Carnival ships have them.

KenMo Posted June 25, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2013 The Vista Suites on Deck 4 are the best. There is overhang on the balcony...giving shade and shelter if it rains. The ones on Deck 5 do not have a separate bedroom, it's just one big room.

wxtrix Posted June 25, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 25, 2013 My husband said he would be worried about soot and noise from the back of the boat. Are these things an issue having a Vista Suite? no soot and a little more noise (vibration) but nothing that interferes with conversation or sleeping. 4228 on the Pride is our favorite cabin--we're booked for our 3rd cruise in it for New Year's. it's got a nice bedroom, dressing room, and living room space: 4228 and its sister (mirror image) cabin on the opposite corner can be seen just above the promenade:

Soot is a non issue with the deck 4 Vista Suites because of the overhang. Can't speak for the higher decks. Pretty quiet back there, with the only noise and vibration being when the ship is docking or leaving a port. You will however feel more motion of the ocean back there, so something to think about if that bothers you.
Rare jimbo5544 Posted June 25, 2013 #9 Share Posted June 25, 2013 We have had aft wraps on deck six for both Dream and Magic. There was some soot issues, but not really noticable, other than they placed a bathmat by door to balcony.

Sometimes I thought the glasses on the shelves would come down:eek:. Not sure why it is, but we felt less movement in the aft then when forward. Zingy2 Posted June 25, 2013 #11 Share Posted June 25, 2013 We have been in both Deck 7 Aft Wrap Vista Suites on the Spirit and we will be in 6260 Aft Wrap on the Miracle. We only had one minor instance of soot, which was easily remedied by laying our in-room blue beach towel over the chair or lounger. The stewards are gppd about keeping the areas clean also. Just let them know if you have a problem. One of the best things about the Spirit Class Aft Wrap Vista Suites is that they have more square footage overall (counting the balcony), than the Grand Suites...So it is a win-win-win/more space for less money/and a GREAT view as well. We especially like the layouts of the suites. We like the separation of spaces.
serene56 Posted June 25, 2013 #12 Share Posted June 25, 2013 Something to consider-- Carnival suites are nothing like royal caribbeans. And there are no serious perks like other cruiselines when booking a suite on carnival. Most carnival suites are just one bigger room. (except the vista suites on the spirt class ship - do NOT book deck 5 as that is one big space unlike the other decks

dotcomgirl Posted June 25, 2013 Author #14 Share Posted June 25, 2013 People have mentioned that the Vista Suites on deck 5 are just one big room. To me, this sounds better than having a bunch of divisions within the room. In (for example) a Vista Suite on deck 4, does the bedroom feel small since the room is divided up? pulledporky Posted June 25, 2013 #15 Share Posted June 25, 2013 You can get a little soot on the deck 4 Spirit class ships, but it's not bad. I agree 4228 and 4237 are the best cabins in the fleet. Look at the photos above, you can see the depth of the deck; the deck railing is nearly verticle so you get full use. Then look at the photo of the stern. You can see the dividers between balconies, the wraps are nearly as wide as the four middle cabins combined. Laundry room is right ascross the hall from 4228 if you need it and exterior stairs to deck three is two doors down.

We enjoyed having the separate room. Nice widows around the whole room. The only room nicer in Carnival that we have been in was the Captains suite.....that cost way way more. To me, this sounds better than having a bunch of divisions within the room. In (for example) a Vista Suite on deck 4, does the bedroom feel small since the room is divided up? We LOVED 4237 on the Legend! Keep in mind that the Vistas on deck 5 are NOT as large square foot wise. We liked having a living room AND a bedroom (not to mention a dressing room, bathroom with two sinks, and walk-in closet). The hallway along the back from the living room to the bedroom is a wall of windows looking out on that HUGE balcony. We'd book that cabin again in a New York minute! To see photos, go here: http://********************/Site/decks.php?ship=Carnival%20Legend and click on "4237-Suite". Edited to add: You have to substitute cruiselinerooms dot com for the asterisks above to get to the site. CC apparently wiped the words out. Cheers! The cabin for the money is just not worth it- you are better off taking a suite on the side

Love the vista cabins wrap but don't know if they would replace a suite!!! if you are going to sail with a group or love sitting outdoors on your balcony then this is the room for you. If you like the comforts of a suite, then don't book this room. I love it, because it has an extra window and the bed (in our room) was placed in front of one of the windows. The bathrooms are the size of regular rooms (tiny) so you give up the luxury of a suite bathroom. The size of the room is odd and in some rooms smaller than the suite. It all depends if your husband wants to try something new. I love trying new rooms.

"Perks" are not so much a factor for our cruise. The venue, itinerary, etc are the important things. We do not need a butler or a concierge....We can take care of ourselves.
